McCarthy Is Still Hemorrhaging Speaker Votes Even As He Bends Over Backwards For MAGA

Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) announced he would not vote for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) for speaker next year, joining the small but mighty chorus of MAGA-aligned detractors in his caucus who are refusing to bend the knee – at least not before throwing a minor fit.

Hmmmmm…maybe he’s hemorrhaging votes because he’s bending over for MAGA.

Also: first in this thread.

Let’s all wish McCarthy an unhappy New Year. He deserves that at least.

Balancing the budget? THAT’s why this mook won’t vote for McClown? No doubt this is code for messing around with Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, and maybe the ACA, but “balancing the budget” for a federal entity that literally prints its own money and that is held as the worldwide standard is just silliness – and madness.

I love seeing Qevin humiliated like this. With any luck that MAGAts can drag this out well into the next year.

So McCarthy needs 218 votes to be speaker, and any combo of members of Congress can make up that 218. What happens when/if as Rep. Norman floated there aren’t 218 member in chamber when the vote is taken? Or any other combo of present-not voting, not present, or…?
Do they just keep voting? Do they lock the doors, limit bathroom breaks? Has this ever happened before?
Will Kevin be the one to break the House of Representatives? :fearful:

Same old shit: bending over for the racists and wealthy.

He already has the votes of the vast majority of his caucus. A strong leader would call their bluff and just send the vote to the entire house “McCarthy vs. Hakeem”. No way that they wouldn’t cave to install him as speaker. Unfortunately for Kevin, he is a jellyfish of a man who will drown in an ocean of his own stupidity.

In what may be a preview of next year’s GOP-led house, here’s some footage of a recent closed-door GOP caucus meeting:

He’s bent-over? Perfect time to get that heat and UV light in to treat everything that ails Trumpanzees. The hemorrhaging may need Preparation H when the probes are being withdrawn. Have Lindsey Santorumlicker handy so that he can step in with election interference handy.

Kevin was gifted his political career by Bill Thomas on the condition he wouldn’t blow it. Today the question is more like to whom in the GOP he hasn’t promised the farm.

It’s not completely impossible that a Dem could be elected Speaker in 2023

There will be a Republican Speaker of the House, but it will not be Kevin McCarthy because he cannot secure the deal. This is his chance and just like the last time the caucus will turn to another in their ranks to lead them.

My contempt for this – person – goes to a visceral level. Think of that feeling of nausea that’s felt in the solar plexus when you get a charge of adrenaline. Ugh.
