I came here to say something similar. McCarthy knows he can’t win the seat with Santos–McCarthy is being McCarthy and doing what he perceives he needs to do to win, as always.

Yeah, I feel pretty strongly that the people of that district have been so thoroughly humiliated by having elected this absolute clown show that it’ll be tough for any Republican to win it, but nearly impossible for Santos.

I thought about it from time to time. Could not vote for Nixon. No way. Down ballot I voted for democrats in that election. As for McCain I counted him as a friend even with his mistakes (Palin for one) and right wing politics. He knew me by sight at town halls and we had lively if brief conversations. Barry Goldwater was another friend. We strongly disagreed on politics but found common ground with photography and fooling with cameras. He was really fun to talk to.
So… I have yet to vote for a republican. Assuming one exists that I could agree with. I will say that for me voting is serious business.

McCarthy Is Betting GOP Can Hold House In 2024 Without Santos
Bit of a daft headline. Santos’ political career is dead, dead, dead. He is, as Umberto Eco would say, burnt flesh. Santos is not available to Qevin to help hold the House, because Santos is not going to crack triple digits in 2024 votes to retain his seat.
That would not be principled, that would be sensible. Because the GOP has a turnout advantage in special elections, their best shot at holding the seat in the 2024 general election is to win an earllier special election and have a normal milquetoast GOP incumbent running in the 2024 general.

Mom’s doing very well for almost 97. Thanks for asking! I took her to her annual Medicare exam last week. All systems are good except for some minor incontinence. The doctor asked if she’s had any “accidents in bed” she said “no” but I added “other than my youngest brother Troy”.

Mom was stoked about Great Granddaughter Mary Jones who had just gotten the assist on the game winner in the WA East/West Girls HS Allstar game. Then she blocked the final shot by the West. She’s also a great student!
