What is the difference between a peckerhead and a peckerwood?
I didn’t trust the online definition, but I just looked it up in Shorter Oxford–
peckerwood–
‘poor white trash’ (black dialect)
‘small, insignificant, inferior’
peckerhead surprising–not listed in either New Shorter Oxford or in the Complete Oxford
English Dictionary 1929 edition.

It comes from the woodpecker, I believe. A person who keeps pecking away annoyingly.

The ol’ peckerhead mushroom, as far as I can tell, refers to Morchella punctipes, and populiphila, or what used to be known under the larger umbrella term as Morchella semilebera, which is now, reserved only to species picked in Europe. With their similar shape, a related mushroom called Verpa bohemicalikely gets lumped in there too
The dictionary I checked definitely leans towards your definition, but also has as synonym “dickhead”. For “dickhead” it has 2 definitions–
the first exactly like peckerhead–obnoxious, loudmouth.
The second-- * (glans penis): see also Thesaurus:glans.
I would also point out at least one other phallic connotation for ‘pecker’ from ‘Midnight Run’ (1990ish)

I am not saying this usage is universally recognized, or that it ever will be.
But it does exist.
This still doesn’t answer the question that started this–if there is no cited meaning
of peckerhead as unequivocably obscene, why did original poster get flagged?
