House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) made a befuddling claim on “Fox and Friends” Monday morning, arguing that President Trump actually didn’t tell China to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden on live-television.
“McCarthy Doesn’t Think Trump Actually Called On China To Investigate Biden”
Please correct this headline, because he absolutely DOES think that, which is why he’s so desperately straining to provide an alternate facts rationalization that flips it on its head with doublethink.
I used to think McCarthy was just doing this incompetent defense of Trump to keep his post-Congress employment chances intact. But he really seems to be doing this nonsense exclusively to please Trump. I guess when Trump correctly pointed out Biden’s nepotism problem, he realized that’s hard to put something like that behind you. McCarthy’s own nepotism problems with his own discriminated Cherokee in-laws is much worse.
Kevin says, “If I break the law, you want to investigate me.” Well, giving your brother-in-law $9 million in federal contracts on your district at two military bases is both a violation of the US Code and an Ethical violation by a member of Congress.
Hey McCarthy, even Miss Lindsey is calling Trump out on the Kurdish betrayal, on Fox News where Donnie will hear it. Who knows how long that bit of backbone will last, but it’s not starting out to be a great week for Dear Leader.
