"McCarthy is trying to pass a bill to start “negotiations”

He doesn’t even have a clear ‘win’ here. Even if it passes and he doesn’t look like the fool he is, so what?

Nancy wouldn’t need a bill to pass to “start negotiations”.

“This is extortion,” Ranking Member Jim McGovern (D-MA) said. “If Democrats don’t give Speaker McCarthy everything he wants, Republicans want to literally push the entire economy off a cliff.”

I call BS – Republicans would like to push the economy off the cliff even if they get everything they are demanding. Always assume Goalposts will be moved

I should never, ever wish failure on someone.

But I do on this fool.

I love how my own representative has a dishonest screed up on Twitter saying Republicans are negotiating in good faith

“Both wings” of the party? The lunatics and the morons? Fantasyland believers and flat earthers? Hard right and far right?

However, and astonishingly, they do have one correct idea - killing the ethanol tax credit, that’s greenwashing at its worth and growing corn for ethanol should be ended. ETA produces 24% more greenhouse gases than gasoline.

A bloc of midwestern Republicans is also threatening to revolt over the repeal of ethanol tax credits,

I fully believe that they, unlike the Tea Party assholes, will let the government default - mainly because this group is too stupid to truly understand the consequences.

On the one hand, we have the article about Joe Biden’s new, ultra-competent, campaign manager; a Latina scion of one of labor’s greatest leaders.

On the other hand, we have the demonstrated ignorance and anarchic incompetence of the fascist mob in the House.

I’m going to bet that Uncle Joe kicks their butts.

As an American now finally successfully transplanted outside the US to Canada (I finally received official acceptance of my Canada pension application in this afternoon’s mail, closing the last bureaucratic wall left to climb in our transplantation), I most sincerely hope/wish/cheer that this is so. Any other outcome will obviously also impact me and my family here in Canada, as well as all my siblings down in Oz and everyone else on the planet, so please, please, please! - do the right thing, American voters!!! :grimacing:

Just a reminder: McCarthy turned over ALL January 6 security video to Tucker Carlson, a guy FOX has determined is no longer fit to be employed by…FOX.

Just sayin’

What’s that, the dominionists and the child labor caucus?
Or, have I neglected the burn it all down wing?

Nancy would negotiate the House’s budget, not a bill drawn up explicitly to force politically motivated cuts she would never force on a president of her own party.
Or, has she recently sought admission to the “Party over Country” crowd?

OT but it seems of a piece:
