Yesterday on Nicolle’s show Claire McCaskill speculated that trump quickly popped these picks out because his boy, skelator, did not grab Senate leadership.
That embarrassment got lost under this shitshow.
May the Force Be With You.
Like in Star Wars.
Trump is casting people that he thinks are shit stirrers. But first and foremost they must be shit stirrers that defend The DonOLD!
These nominations are more strategic than you think. Trump is an ignoramus but he’s not dumb, and he’s already figured out how to play the game. He takes a shot that Gabbard and Gaetz might be confirmed, which if it happens gives him a gauge of how cowed and dominated the Republican congress is. If he doesn’t get them confirmed, this guarantees that his replacements get confirmed no matter how awful THEY are. It’s sacrificing the big dick deep toilet guy to get Barr, all over again.
Why not Jim Kramer? He even looks like Vladimir Lenin! The Lefties will love it, right?
It’s (past) time for the FBI and CIA to tell us what they know.
These are nominations as performance art. The best or least worst part is, when the Senate confirms them all, they’re on the record endorsing this.
That said, I can imagine a scenario where 2-3 Repubs vote with Dems against, or miss the vote or some such thing. Possibly Murkowski, maybe Grassley (like he cares if he’s primaried), but def not Collins, who has voted yes despite shock and appall too often to count.

Matt Gaetz
“Matt likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”
Shkreli came out against Trump (hand to God) in the waning weeks of the campaign. I think Bartiromo is actually not a half-bad guess if I were betting on not-so-long shots.
It seems to me that they are going to make a big mess as they grift. Which miscreant does that from which position is just details.
As my mother used to say, “he’s smart like a fox.”
thanks. i figured there was a back story to so much that is happenig.
Josh Marshall started TPM on Nov. 13, 2000, during the Florida recount.
Congrats to Josh!
Not sure if it was the very first day, but Nov. 2000 is when I began reading TPM. I don’t know why I’m kinda proud of that, but there we are.
Well, this will be entertaining, in a good way for once.
It’s like Harriet Myers redux.
Girls are maturing faster these days, so it should probably be 12.
I do find it amusing that Trump requires Senate Republicans to French kiss Matt Gaetz’s ass.
Of course they find it nauseating. But I really want to see how performative they become on actually enjoying it when they have to do so.
That is the problem with agreeing to a cult’s restrictive and domineering culture; it is sort of like slavery, you might not like it.
Superb question. Seems clear the appointment of Marco Rubio as SoS was designed to remove him from the senate and have DeSantis replace him with someone Trump likes better/has more control over. Seems equally clear the Gaetz appointment and resignation is designed to quash the ethics committee report. Would serve everyone right if the committee report is released based on the fact that Gaetz is a representative-elect?
