I wrote a presentation for my professional organization a couple of years back about software implementations and the pitfalls to look out for. The title was ‘What Could Go Wrong?’ I will bet this implementation had seven of the eight suggestions I wrote about.

A warning that came with the app stated that it could damage your phone. I wouldn’t download that. I bought a Panasonic soundbar with the same warning (of course I didn’t read the info with the soundbar before setting it up) and it did screw with my phone. That thing is sitting in the garage somewhere now.
And this is where the VERY major damage to the Dems begins. The GOP will make hay out of this all the way to the end of the election, no questions asked. Optics, people, optics. Doesn’t matter if it’s ultimately resolved, repaired, re-done, whatever. Optics. And the GOP will play on this for the next eight months, relentlessly.

At this point I’m wondering if it is really the Democratic Party that need to be utterly and completely destroyed? It can’t be fixed anymore. The voters whose votes we need don’t vote, and when they actually do vote (in numbers that don’t win elections) they aren’t counted correctly. Blaming Russia, whether true or not, is weak sauce. Trump is capitalizing on this with an easily digestible message: The Democrats can’t even run a caucus in Iowa! The last thing we need is them running the country.
And I’m a Democrat, but sometimes you just have to face reality and it’s heart breaking.
I think the problem is you, let’s try having you not post anymore for the rest of the election and see how it turns out

Spare me the bullshit about heritage and tradition. Both should have gone out 100 years ago.
I’ll bow to your professional opinion on the timeframe for development from scratch.
But I’ve gotta believe that there’s an app in existence that could be modified for this use.

On the one hand, this effectively kills Iowa’s status as “first in the nation.” The thought of Iowa going first again in 2024 is literally insane. So that’s a good thing…
But on the other hand, this mess is probably going to fuel the “Democrats in disarray!” narrative all the way to November, with the topper being Bernie’s supporters will inevitably point to this as a coordinated hit to kill his momentum (despite all evidence pointing to this mess mostly being caused by rule changes that Bernie’s campaign requested). So that’s bad…

Here’s how I addressed it in my presentation, summary statement:
Don’t buy the buzzword - don’t buy something because it’s all over the media.
If you’ve got a mass of customization (as in, you can’t use the software as it is) that affects more than half of the code, you’ve chosen the wrong software. If you can’t use it out of the box, it’s the wrong software.
Don’t buy software because somebody’s relative told you to or, worse, has a stake in it.
I will put good money on any one of the above being a factor in the failure. And I’ll also buy the insufficient testing excuse - that one happens more than you know out there. My current client says they’re in the second phase of testing for a roll out 1 April. The test client has no data in it to speak of. It should have all the data elements they plan on loading in to the live system. Yeah - this one will go real well.

Wow, conservatives are suddenly big on process! How about the process of removing a criminal from the Oval office?
Anyway, it’s easy to take cheap shots at technology. We went through that with Obamacare. Trump’s administration has botched any number of things.
Hell, they claim there were 3 million illegal votes in 2016 and they didn’t do anything about them.

As a consultant that spent 45+ years in the business, it is possible to produce very good code in a couple of months. OTOH is it also very easy to produce shit, that is what appears to be the case here.
