Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has tested positive for COVID-19, per a video announcement he posted yesterday.
He’s just middle age, vaccinated, asymptomatic yet getting a monoclonal treatment that costs about 22K a person. The elitism in that scenario is gut wrenching. He’s one of the leaders of the Pro COVID crowd. He spends his time trying to look tougher than COVID but when he gets it runs for the best care available but the vast majority of his fellow Texans could never afford it. They do pay for his treatment though.
A hedge fund that owns 16 million in Regeneron is DeSantis’s number 1 political donor.
“Let’s keep this energy up and send a message that Texas values are NOT up for grabs in 2022.”
People are trying to grab Texas values? Who the hell wants them?
Republicans have wanted sharia law for a long long time. At least now they see it themselves. They are no different than other religious fundamentalist terrorist group and should be treated the same way.
And the US has a policy to not negotiate with terrorists.
As a paraplegic, he is immuno-compromised, thus perhaps justifying the treatment, but I seriously doubt Texans in similar circumstances are getting monoclonal treatment, especially any Black, brown, immigrant or impoverished ones.

Why? I’m a paraplegic and i’m not - at least my doctors have never mentioned it and it’s never moved me up on the vaccine eligibility list.
If the backlash to this insanity does not prompt a democratic governor in Texas then the good people there are truly screwed.
Out of curiosity if Abbott was vaccinated and showing no symptoms why was he tested?

As governor, he gets tested daily, probably because of all the people he comes in contact with and his aversion to masking. Same as TFG when he was still in office. Not sure why he would get monoclonal antibodies (a 3 hour infusion) if he’s asymptomatic. So maybe a bit of obfuscation going on? 
After you recklessly endangered yourself and all others around you seems an odd time to strike up the “abundance of caution” mantra, but this the “shut the barn door quickly - the horses are on the loose in the field” GOP were talking about.
It doesn’t have to make sense - just that they get theirs and you paid for it. It’s not socialism; just a plutocracy.
Saluting The Taliban To Own The Libs
Conservatives have offered weird takes on Taliban ideology over the last couple of days:
While Biden will take a hit in his polling numbers over the next few weeks, Republicans seem awfully damn determined to minimize that hit as much as possible. Siding with the Taliban to own the libs is quite possibly the dumbest thing they could do, well, that and lying about Covid.
Perhaps Abbott is taking this “owning the libs” business a bit too far? The disabled have already borne more than their fair share of covid deaths.
