Maryland Guv Using National Guard To Keep Feds From Seizing COVID-19 Tests | Talking Points Memo

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) is hiding something, somewhere.

In a video interview with the Washington Post, Hogan said that he had enlisted the National Guard and State Police to protect 500,000 COVID-19 tests he had procured from South Korea from potential seizure by the feds.

Yay! Why don’t more coastal states do this? (Illinois counts as coastal too, for this)

Hogan has said that he managed to secure the 500,000 tests thanks to help from his wife, who is originally from South Korea and purportedly called the country’s ambassador to the U.S. for help.

This is like when the Canadian embassy hid Americans from the Iranian revolutionaries and successfully smuggled them out of Iran.

So it has come to this. Republicans fomenting an armed insurrection against a Republican government.

I am glad that Hogan has gone public with this. It shows the great lengths governors must go in order to secure their orders from Jared Kushner and his band of thieves.

“The National Guard and the State Police are both guarding these tests at an undisclosed location,” Hogan said.

Hogan’s Heroes!

Not sure whether to laugh or cry.

It’s not insurrection until the feds show up and force Hogan’s hand.

I’ll bet you can do both, probably at the same time.

Does the Gov realize he is cutting into Trump family profits?

Oh gawd I would love to see him try.

It’ll be the Bizarro Civil War version of the bombardment of Fort Sumter.

I LOVE that a Republican Governor is LOUDLY stating what has been going on with this corrupt administration.

Wow…

They even had the plane fly directly in to BWI to avoid crossing state lines. You know what’s coming next: fighter patrols at US air borders forcing suspected medical cargo planes to land for “inspection”.

None of this ends without a whole lot of pain,

This is crazy. A Republican governor calling out the National Guard to protect his constituents from a credible threat fr the federal government, and Michigan legislators feel the need to wear billet proof vests on the floor of the legislative chamber.

The hooligans in Michigan may need a reminder -not that they would care.

So, anyone still calling me a tinfoil-hat conspiracy theorist for saying this could all go South, and rapidly?

This entire episode is a tribute to the insanity, incompetence, and corruption of Trump’s government. This story is right out of a piece of absurdist literature like “Catch 22”.

If you take one step back from this, the entire thing is unbelievable.

I wish some of these wannabe warlords would move to a country that is really run by warlords! I don’t think it would end up the way they dream.
