I read the review and I think it’s all I need to know about the POS and all that goes with him.
It also creates the possibility that the pandemic will be handled half-competently, which could mean a lot of lives are saved and the overall suffering is reduced. For that, I’ll take my chance in the election: it’s much better he leave office asap.
It’s also possible that his Reactionary successor will do no better of a job than he is, which would really drive home the point that it’s the party, not its leader, that is fomenting this destruction.
I would call trump’s version of “leadership” not just dangerous… I would call it lethal.
I think it is highly unlikely that Trump will debate with Biden. Highly unlikely. (Did you see his “press conference” yesterday?) And the idea that Trump is thinking, “I know I’m down now, but I might win the debates, or a vaccine might be developed in time, etc. I can still turn this around!”—this is attributing far too much strategic planning to him. He is totally impulsive in his decision-making and now more so than ever. He’s lashing out wildly, going with whatever thought comes into his small fevered brain at the moment. No plan.
Look I don’t know what this guy is going to do but we need to have a semi-accurate conception of who we are dealing with.
Two things.
I agree with your basic premise, but
- A book can be full of facts but so poorly written that I cannot read it. That is why it is great when other people read it for me and pick out the nuggets. Bolton book is a perfect example of this.
- Based on what little I have read, this is a lot more of a memoir than a piece of investigative journalism, which makes the writing even more important.
I imagine whatever is left of the GOP will split into pro- and anti-trump factions post election (assuming Joe wins) and will savage each other furiously.
Good times.
Mary Trump: “Donald’s father Fred taught him to view relationships solely in terms of money, at the expense of any normal feelings. I feel this makes Donald into a broken person, and his Presidency into a danger for the country.”
The White House: “The book is a money-grubbing move.”
Fucking hilarious.
I think that the argument for calling on him to resign is not related to the possibility of him actually resigning.
That is, his negligence is so serious that as citizens we have a moral obligation to object as strongly as possible. And if we can shift the debate from “Should we replace Trump with Biden” to “Should we get rid of Trump now or later” then we will have move a step closer to health.
The White House has condemned the book as a money-grubbing move.
This is the Trump White House, so I assume “money-grubbing” is meant as a compliment.
I respectfully disagree. Mike Pence and the Republican congressional caucus couldn’t wipe off the stink of Trump in a thousand years, much less four months.
But our disagreement is academic. Trump won’t resign. But calling for him to resign forces R candidates up and down the ballot to argue in favor of Trump’s current conduct. It would pin those bastards to the wall. Plus it’s the right thing to do.
To be called money-grubbing by anyone in this administration is the pot calling the kettle black.
Indeed. Ex: “The Personal Memoirs of US Grant” is regarded as a literary achievement, as well as a piece of history. Makes reading it all the more gratifying.
The supplication of newspaper boards in their abject failure to stand up to the actions of this government have been beyond appalling. By way of comparison, over 100 newspapers had called for Bill Clinton to resign! Yet now barely any commentary about how a clearly deranged person shouldn’t be anywhere near the federal response to a pandemic!
I read it all in one sitting, it’s that riveting. Objectively speaking (as much as is possible), Donald Trump is a pathetic, emotionally stunted 6 year old living in a pampered, institutionalized old man’s decrepit body. He never had a chance for a normal life from the second he was born. It’s hard to feel sorry for him because of what he’s wreaked on this country, but no one deserves to be forced into the hellish life he’s led.
Sidelining the CDC in the middle of the worst pandemic in a century in order to fraudulently manipulate the numbers is a new escalation, even for Trump.
Accordingly, we can assume as probable the prospect of Trump’s using all means necessary to rig the 2020 election: from electronic fraud, to attempting to cancel the election, to declaring martial law, to de facto “deputizing” motorcycle gangs, skinheads, and Nazis to engage in violence and intimidation at the polls.
If anyone disagrees, I’d like to know why it’s implausible.
BREAKING! Mary Trump calls sky blue!
“Mary Trump and her book’s publisher may claim to be acting in the public interest, but this book is clearly in the author’s own financial self-interest”
Hardly seems like a criticism, coming from them. More like an accolade.
Mary T said in the interview, and I think it was very perceptive, that PP
may have a long undiagnosed learning disability that for decades has interfered with his ability to process information
We all thought he was being mavericky and nonconformist when in fact he’s stupid as hell and doesn’t understand what he’s being told, and worse can’t read and then process the printed words. This might account for him paying someone to take his SATs because to admit to the tyrannical father that he was having trouble learning what was being taught in schools he went to would have brought down the trumpp hammer on his head.
based upon nothing more than a firm belief in the high batting average of philosopher William of Ockham … and thus thinking that the reasons for Trump concealing his finances are for the most obvious logical reasons of fraud deception and treason.
Have to believe that there are multiple people with varying degrees of access to much of the - if not all of the most critical documents … and oh my - would love to see a Daniel Ellsberg step forward in a courageous act of patriotism and thoroughly destroy that myths that Trump is perpetuating about his wealth - and expose the horrific compromised situations that his financial manipulations have created.
