When ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos asked Mary Trump in an exclusive interview on Tuesday what she would say if given the opportunity to address her uncle, her answer was clear: “Resign.”
Dangerous? He. sure had us fooled. That was close. Thanks, Mary!
Seriously, we don’t want him to resign. That will allow vestiges of Trumpism to survive and grow back. Pence or any other generic republican (yes, Pence is a generic republican) has a better chance of winning than Trump does. We need total destruction this November. It is too late for him to resign, just like it is too late for another impeachment now.
“Resign.” For me, her credibility immediately triples. This is obviously what all sane people should be insisting, loudly, daily. Where is the editorial board of the WaPo, of the NYT? Why hasn’t the House Democratic majority passed a resolution calling on Trump to resign, or be removed by the 25th Amendment?
I started my Kindle sample of this book last night, and was surprised to find that it was reasonably well-written - not great for sure, but reasonable. I will probably purchase it, and had to ask myself what I would actually get out of it. And I had to answer myself that I wasn’t actually sure. I have managed to bypass most of the Trump books without regret. In fact my biggest regret was purchasing the Woodward book which I found entirely unenlightening.
But even though I hear she does not attempt a diagnosis, I have been wanting to hear someone with a mental health background discuss Trump and his actions with those kind of insights based on his personal moments and not his public performances.
Yep. Absofrigginlutely. We must accept the short term danger of the next 6 months but voting him out convincingly is the only way to purge this infection. But I worry that he will resign before he allows this to happen.
Trump resigning creates a wildcard for the general election. If he is no longer the opponent, anti-Trump sentiment on the part of independents and never Trumpers will evaporate. We need that sentiment to have a republican wipeout up and down the ticket.
“Mary Trump and her book’s publisher may claim to be acting in the public interest, but this book is clearly in the author’s own financial self-interest,” the White House said in a statement obtained by ABC News.
The White House speaks as if acting in one’s self-interest is a bad thing. Someone better run and tell Donald. And Ivanka. And Jared. And . . .
