This story is bad for my blood pressure. Infuriating shit, but I know there will be NO consequences. Maybe a slap on the wrist…but I assume she enjoys that.
I look at the bright side. MTG is helping to highlight the continuing problem that the FEC is toothless and has zero chance to enforce things, which should underline the need to make the penalties and processes more robust so that these can be prosecuted under criminal statute and not merely cough up some dough later on (if ever).
First thing Shaftan mentioned in the article is Rick Shaftan, Pollster and Media consultant. I had to use the Google to figure out this name that was dropped into the article.
Two yes MTG gets a lot of press, but then just like the Pro Publica article about Grahman, NC and the article on Shafta, CA these are reportings on what is happening outside of DC. It’s good to know what is going outside one’s own bubble, it only to fortify your own bubble.
Old news, Raw Story of all people had this days ago for free. I get we all support Biden, but he’s made some mistakes lately and TPM won’t touch them - no stories about Israel, Infrastructure fold to the republicans, taking help with college loans out of the budget, taking everything the repubs don’t like out of the budget, in general Biden is still trying to “work” with them, reach over the isle, pass bipartisan and all that. He’s managing to split the dem party between those who want to stick to old style and those who want to recognize the reality of the republican party as it exists today. Maybe Biden is too old to change.
Under federal law, candidates and elected officials cannot “solicit, receive, direct, transfer, or spend funds in connection with an election … unless the funds are subject to the limitations, prohibitions, and reporting requirements” of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971.
It’s time for the Supreme Court to revisit its decision in Citizens United and correct this unfair discrimination against regular PACs. Money is free speech, and free speech by the common PAC is no less sacred than free speech by the anonymous big dollar donors.
Nah, once the GOP retakes the House she’ll be elevated to some leadership position. Because if she isn’t a few dozen Proud Boys, 3%ers and Oath Keepers will be more than happy to terrorize anyone standing in her way.
Greene planned to speak at a May 1 rally in Columbus, Ohio, organized by Chris Dorr, who told followers they could openly carry guns there. On the eve of the rally, the organizers called it off. Greene released a statement claiming state authorities refused to provide security for her.
Why does she need state-provided security when she would have the protection of all these gun-wielding supporters?
