Many States Fall Short Of Mandate To Track Virus Exposure | Talking Points Memo

If this was really an “all of government approach,” as Pence says at every briefing we could have a WPA or CCC corps of contact tracers. This could be managed by the states with the feds providing guidance and funding.

Before I retired, I and hundreds of other people spent 2 years integrating data from various federal databases in order to create a common set of data for detecting fraud, waste, and abuse for Medicare and Medicaid. There were dead docs writing prescriptions, dead people still getting monthly checks and medical supply companies selling millions of units to fake companies, just to mention a few examples. None of the independent federal databases were cross-checked for such simple metrics. It took conversion applications that converted many billions of records and cross-matched them for names and dates. Eventually, it was included in the rollout of the ACA.

Now multiply that nightmare by 50, where every state has someone independently dream up some way of tracking data, with people adding unverified garbage, storing fields of information with different specifications, leaving blanks for what should be required fields. Six months from now, try to integrate that data. It’s just another disaster in the making.

If you do re-type it, also fix “capital.”

Right now, Trump is using the Federal Government as an Occupying Force.

He has no more intention of helping Blue States than the Japanese did in helping the Doolittle Raid Chinese rescuers.

In a sense the Japanese reign of terror on those Chinese was less drawn-out than what Trump has on his mind for us.

I read a piece this morning that had an interview with an Italian journalist who wrote a book I read about the Italian mindset. He spends a lot of time here too. His take on watching us respond is just pure sadness. He feels so bad for us having this fool in charge when things are so dire.

I think that’s the general attitude in Europe. The don’t hate us, they really do care and they feel really bad for us.

All of this – meaning the federal “plan” or rather lack thereof, including the duplicitous guidelines – is a disaster in the making. Even Republicans know it.

I saw another piece this morning in the LA Times I couldn’t access but the headline was that the readers were in disagreement with the protesters overwhelmingly and had no sympathy for them.

It’s more than just a demented uncle. There’s an entire political party actively destroying our democracy, and a third of the electorate cheering them on. We’ve got our own political pandemic going on. I don’t blame them for socially distancing from us, perhaps permanently.

Everyone’s got their own version of the republicans, and their own issues. Boris Johnson, for example, is running Britain into the ground with a party who won just over 30% of the vote… So we’re not the only one with rigged shit going on.

This brightens my day a bit. I know, it’s early but it likely makes Mitch, the RNC and Trump a tad bit queezy. Note AZ, PA and MI -not pretty for Trump.

It’s more like we stepped down and walked away, while the other nations looked on slack-jawed. The hired caretakers named Pompeo and Tillerson gleefully let your asshole of a demented uncle do this.

Three reasons:

  1. Everything is about him.
  2. He thinks he’s punishing us by not gracing the airwaves.
  3. Everything is about him.

Nah, it was all about the ratings and credibility, even among registered Republicans. Finally it got through to the bulk of the American people that he was failing and failing miserably.

40 now? Wow. No it’s not a good look - the GOP insisted on it and this is the result.

Pure GOP infections.
