The Manhattan District Attorney all but confirmed on Friday that it is investigating President Trump for more than the 2016 hush money scheme involving Michael Cohen.

it is not plausible to speculate, let alone infer, that the grand jury investigation was limited to Cohen’s 2016 payments

While I defer to and invite any lawyer’s insights into this situation, it makes me wonder if any federal “unindicted conspirator” allegations may become “indicted conspirator” ones at the New York state and Manhattan levels.
Since the investigation has already been announced:
Is the Manhattan DAs office bound by any commitment to not announce indictments in deference to a forthcoming election? (ed.)
Can that commitment be changed to allow for for Billy Barr’s expressed willingness to announce investigations implicating Democratic candidates right before the upcoming election?
I know, right. It will probably hit him harder than Mary Trumps book. Cohen was likely ‘in the room’ - more often than Bolten - for all the slimy stuff. It will be salacious - which of course, sells. Which means ratings. Which means living rent free in tRump’s psyche.
I never understood Trump’s legal strategy here. The DA is not supposed to say what they are investigating. When Trump challenged the Subpeonas before, the NY County DA filed a “in camera” (for the judges eyes only) deceleration explaining the scope of their investigation. The Federal Judge then said they were appropriate in scope, and were not over board.
By publicly stating like they did that only the Stormy Daniels payments were at issue, Trump’s lawyers opened the door for the NY County DA to do what they just did - which is confirm a larger investigation.
Vance IMHO could have done a lot more, and probably should have, he is still being coy. But this has now been put out there for Biden to pick up on, and use if he wants to.
Seems that being vague would have been better, in doing so Trump would not have “opened the door” to a response from the NY County DA.
