It may be because the tsunami of bullshit and corruption associated with Trump has submerged any sense of real outrage but there are even greater tsunamis – e.g., There have been more than 600 mass shootings so far in 2022 – and it appears that however much shock may be dimmed by repetition the problem is not inertia so much as astonishment and dismay at a major political party and significant minority of the populace rejecting an adequate response to any of it much less a real accounting.
