Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) reminded everyone that his vote remains crucial for passing the reconciliation bill at a hastily arranged Monday press conference at the Capitol.

You holding the other bill hostage won’t get you what you want on this one, but me holding this bill hostage should get me what I want on that one. Oh, fuck youuuuuu

House: Fine, we’ll pass BIF now and BBB will pass later this week. We have to move on voting rights and the threat to our democracy as soon as possible.

Manchin: Hold my beer.

“Holding this bill hostage is not going to work in getting my support for the reconciliation bill,” Manchin said, referring to the bipartisan package.

I think that by holding his press conference to make this comment Joe Manchin is signaling that holding the bipartisan bill hostage is working as intended. Just because they are progressive Democrats doesn’t mean they are going to flinch.

Not convinced Manchin isn’t bolting the party. He’s pressing for the passage of the infrastructure bill while withholding his buy in on the BBB legislation. He tells everyone to stop the games…which means he only wants to play his game. I don’t trust him.

Also Manchin: “Why do you think I’m going to pull the football at the last minute? Don’t you trust me?”

It absolutely galls me that progressives have been taking flak about stating that they’re wary of Manchin & Sinema. Does anyone see any good faith on their part? No statements of support after the leader of the US (and your party) departs for Europe? Nothing for him to build on or sell right before a critical state election in Virginia?

Fuck him, kill BIF.

From cnn…

In a warning sign to party leaders, the West Virginia Democrat says he won’t support the bill until there’s ‘greater clarity’ about how it will affect the economy

Apparently Manchin wants somebody to foretell the future with extreme clarity. May god damn him thru all eternity.

The House should pass both BIF and BBB tomorrow. Manchin is blowing smoke and gets far too much attention. Meanwhile Nancy Pelosi is trying to herd the cats for passage of both. House Dems should plug their ears, not respond to him and go forward.

Shorter Manchin: “This bill that now reflects everything I demanded sucks!”

“I’m open to supporting a final bill that helps move our country forward,” Manchin said. “But I’m equally open to voting against a bill that hurts our country.”

So it’s OK to hurt women and children, seniors, and…well anyone who isn’t a white male or a millionaire/billionaire. It’s OK to be any gender, have a differing sexual orientation than cis, white, male as long as you have enough bux in the bank.

Seriously, F this guy. The progressive caucus should just tank the whole thing now and run against Trump and the DINOs 2024.

Hahah that will be an abject failure.

I called this press conference to draw attention to myself and to remind everyone that I am the only person who can get this bill passed and also the main reason why it will never get passed. I hope that clears things up.
