âHolding this bill hostage is not going to work in getting my support for the reconciliation bill,â Manchin said, referring to the bipartisan package.
I think that by holding his press conference to make this comment Joe Manchin is signaling that holding the bipartisan bill hostage is working as intended. Just because they are progressive Democrats doesnât mean they are going to flinch.
Not convinced Manchin isnât bolting the party. Heâs pressing for the passage of the infrastructure bill while withholding his buy in on the BBB legislation. He tells everyone to stop the gamesâŚwhich means he only wants to play his game. I donât trust him.
Also Manchin: âWhy do you think Iâm going to pull the football at the last minute? Donât you trust me?â
It absolutely galls me that progressives have been taking flak about stating that theyâre wary of Manchin & Sinema. Does anyone see any good faith on their part? No statements of support after the leader of the US (and your party) departs for Europe? Nothing for him to build on or sell right before a critical state election in Virginia?

The House should pass both BIF and BBB tomorrow. Manchin is blowing smoke and gets far too much attention. Meanwhile Nancy Pelosi is trying to herd the cats for passage of both. House Dems should plug their ears, not respond to him and go forward.

I called this press conference to draw attention to myself and to remind everyone that I am the only person who can get this bill passed and also the main reason why it will never get passed. I hope that clears things up.
