The problem with standing up to a popular bully is that you barely get 5 seconds to tell them what you really think of them before their supplicants rush you out of the room, and then they spend the next few hours hurling insults and mockery at you, and it gets exhausting. They win by intimidating some and wearing others down. The way to fight them is insidiously, by taking hit and run potshots and via targeted trolling. I.e. guerilla warfare by other means. Use their own strength against them.
