Maybe she should conside that if this bill fails, there will be a “kick me” sign hanging on her ass. She might want to consider whether it might be better for her pharmaceutical patrons to go with this or suffer a a slam when there is a true democrat majority passing a new version of the bill.
Were there not discussions with Sinema back before this deal went public?
It’s nutso to think that anyone, much less someone as unpredictable and immature as Sinema, would go along with something without having been at least given some sort of opportunity along the way to weigh in. That’s basic negotation 101. And why not meet with her before going public, instead of applying pressure publically now?
This all seems very odd, and does not augur well. She’s already reconciled to being thrown under the bus, or basically knows that this is where she’s put herself, politically. So, where’s the incentive to vote for this? If she sees political or personal gain in not voting for this bill, she’ll grab it. Certainly, she sees gain in stretching out announcing a decision, helping keep her name in the news. Even after the Senate, she’ll have a nice sinecure at a think tank somewhere, or cash in at Fox News. So, again she should have been consulted, or at least called, or, better yet, taken to lunch, before this thing went public. Oh well.
Good for Senator Manchin.

The USA has better than 20 trillion dollars in sovereign debt. There is only one way to pay that debt. Money. There is no other way to get that money than to tax. “No new taxes” means “New Debt”.
Probably not, since part of the plan was to hoodwink moscow turtle. Sinemy is about as leakproof as a collander. Remember, they already have CHIPS as a done deal. Sinemy can’t tank that, now.
“This is everything Kyrsten agreed to in December,” the West Virginia Democrat said. “She signed off on the bill back in December.”
So, when does Manchin start saying, “Maybe we should be reconsidering the committee assignments of senators who can’t get behind the party’s priorities?”
Well, they could have flown someone in to meet with Sinema shortly before the announcement, at least, saying it had just about been baked as a cake and her input would be appreciated. Something, I don’t know.

Complaining about using the centrist label in relation to Manchin and Sinema is beating the proverbial dead horse, so I instead will ask @crismcabrera to list the Democratic senators who are to their right.
I think she already realizes that she’s not going to be reelected. And that makes her refusal to come out in favor of the bill look like nothing more that pure obstruction for the sake of obstruction.

I could understand if this weren’t tpm, but referring to Sinenema as a “centrist” is offensive. She’s not a centrist. She’s a fucking moron.

Because Sinenema is non-negotiable. She’s an attention whore who wants to make a show on the Senate floor with her little, thumbs up/down gesture she learned from John McCain.
I’m still seething that Sinema is the key to getting this deal passed.
