Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) announced Friday that he is opposed to the confirmation of Neera Tanden to lead the The Office of Management and Budget.
Limelight Joe hadn’t heard his name mentioned in a while. He needed to be talked about again.
The word “Powwow” has a very American sound to it.
(Ohio Republican Sen. Rob Portman told her at her confirmation hearing that he found nine pages of tweets of her attacking Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz).
Only nine?
If only the Democrats could keep him in line by suggesting he be primaried, as is now the norm in the Republican party.
Just kidding. That sort of thing is what is killing the Republican party.
Manchin’s only value right now is as the 50th Democratic senator. Most days he comes across as a sleazy, empty-headed, self-serving twerp—in other words, a Republican in all but name.
Really because Neera Tanden was able to exercise her 1A rights she’s a no go for Joe? Did she say something not nice about Manchin?
And then there’s Boebert who is sponsoring legislation to amend the Constitution, but tweets that we can’t make changes to the Constitution.
And Madsion Cawthorn has no idea that the Vatican isn’t in the US, nor a sovereign country.
Need to find out how these children were left behind.
It’s my understanding she didn’t graduate from high school.
Has Rob done the math on how many are attacking Cruz? How many Texans?
Well, this was the one confirmation that seemed to be controversial. Manchin may be right, despite her ability she may just be too strident for Republicans to deal with, and the friction may not be worth it in the end. He may also be playing a little bit of politics to keep his seat, which is important until he’s not the linchpin keeping Democrats in control of the Senate.
There are other candidates, so while disappointing this isn’t a show stopper. Biden will put up another, less controversial candidate, who will glide through the process, and Tanden will also land on her feet (back in lobbying or in a non-Senate approved role in the Biden administration).
Sessions and Kavanaugh, too.
Manchin, who broke party line to approve President Trump’s appointees, including in his vote to confirm twitter troll Ric Grenell as Trump’s ambassador to Germany.
As a reminder:
Grenell, who once served the Bush administration as U.N. Ambassador John Bolton’s spokesman, was forced to delete hundreds of sexist, rude comments from his Twitter feed in 2012, during his brief tenure as foreign affairs spokesman for Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign.
In addition to mocking the physical appearance of female political figures, Grenell has frequently used his Twitter account to harass journalists, relentlessly accusing them of partisanship for any reporting that challenges the far-right ideas he promotes.
Rather than engage in dialogue, Grenell uses the platform to badger reporters whose work he dislikes to the point where many eventually tire of his inane arguments and block him.
Apparently, Manchin thinks attacking people over twitter is only disqualifying for Democratic nominees.
Ah, well there’s the problem, but she did get her GED in 2020 and that wasn’t covered?
Joe Manchin, best Democrat in the Republican caucus.
Manchin is a colossal pain in the ass.
And the rest of the time he really is a sleazy, empty-headed, self-serving twerp.
Reaching across the aisle by doing what republicans want.
Disfunction is the only governance he knows.
Obviously, Uber can’t just get a Proposition 22 on the ballot and spend millions on advertising in the UK… What a loser country!! /s
It may be time for a reunion of the ladies in pink hats. Need to check out where Manchin lives when he’s back in W.V.
More likely she didn’t graduate from many high schools…
She kept shooting her mouth off…
