A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo. Sign up for the email version. When The Scandal Isn’t The Scandal … As scandalous and horrible as Jeffrey Epstein’s crime were, that’s not what’s giving the story legs or Democrats political leverage in this crazy moment. It’s the conspiracy-addled MAGA…

In a joint statement, 111 international humanitarian organizations called on Israel to end its blockade, restore the full flow of food, clean water and medical supplies to Gaza, and agree to a ceasefir
I sense panic.
The Guardian has an excellent article out about ICE’s depredations and the associated statistics - as far as can be known at present.
Summary.
- In June this year, average daily arrests were up 268% compared with June 2024.
- Ice is increasingly targeting any and all unauthorized immigrants, including people who have no criminal records.
- Despite Trump’s claims that his administration is seeking out the “worst of the worst”, the majority of people being arrested by Ice now have no criminal convictions.
- Detention facilities have been increasingly overcrowded, and the US system is over capacity by more than 13,500 people.
- The number of deportations, however, has fluctuated as the administration pursues new strategies and policies to swiftly expel people from the US.
- The US government has deported more than 8,100 people to countries that are not their home country.
Two of the graphs:
The subpoena for Ghislaine Maxwell to testify before the House committee has to have been stalled by the SOTH calling summer recess two weeks early. We won’t hear from her until she has been interviewed and told what to say by the First Felon’s/DOJ’s attorneys. Makes the whole thing suspect right from the start.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) spoke to MAGA influencer and pro-Trump student organizer Charlie Kirk on Tuesday and urged the Trump administration to charge Dr. Anthony Fauci.
“Do you actually think that because the pardon for Anthony Fauci was signed by AutoPen, there could potentially be some legal way that we could still hold Anthony Fauci criminally accountable, Senator?” Kirk asked Paul at one point during their lengthy conversation.
“I think we don’t know, but the only way to do it is to challenge it. So, for example, I do believe Anthony Fauci committed a felony by lying to Congress,” replied Paul, who recently referred Fauci to the DOJ for criminal prosecution and has been one of his fiercest critics.
If he thinks it will be to his advantage he will have anyone killed and think nothing of it. Maxwell won’t be the first, by a long shot.

“People are already paying the price of these attacks on science: children unnecessarily exposed to lead, families denied clean air, and lives needlessly lost in preventable disease outbreaks,” said Union of Concerned Scientists."
Fauci has been on the enemies list for years. Surprised they haven’t already detained him. They’d better hurry if they want their show trial, because the guy is already 84 years old.
Just remember, his uncle taught in at least 6 different departments at MIT.
“We will have reduced drug prices by 1,000 percent by 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, 700, 600,” Trump said. “Not 30 or 40 or 50 percent, but numbers the likes of which you’ve never even dreamed of before.”
Trump added that his numbers were previously “not even thought to be achievable,”—mainly because they aren’t—but he believes he can somehow pull it off because “I’ve used a certain talent that I have and convinced the drug companies that you have no choice.”
NYT content without paywall. An interview with DOJ whistleblower Erez Reuveni. If you’ve read the whistleblower letter, there’s no much new, but it’s always informative to hear the voice. Sidenote: I had to sign in to hear explicit content, Reuveni quoting Emil Bove, Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General of the United States and nominee for the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals say ‘f**k you’.
They only worry about the next quarter. A three month horizon.
Paul and math.
Mike Allen’s dad was a Bircher and Jim Vandehei’s wife is a Bush appointee. They’ve likely always had fascistic tendencies. They’re a bit flummoxed as to why the public is rejecting this mighty man of accomplishments. “He’s losing by winning”.
Axios is an active and cheerful adversary of democracy.
“Desiree Leigh Grace, was the first assistant U.S. attorney under Habba before the judges elevated her to the top spot. She wasn’t just removed as U.S. attorney by Bondi, but fired from the Justice Department entirely, Politico reports.”
Nothing terrible is TOO terrible to befall these people. If karma actually exists some shit should start hitting the fan soon. Because only some ethereal forces, not Congress or the Courts, are going to mete out punishments for the last 6 months.
How are yer ankles donald? Hike around that golf course & eat a fat laden burger and 3-4 diet cokes. Then 2 scoops of fat laden ice cream…
