I thought at first that the headline read, “To Defend Reb’s Job.” That would have worked for me.

So insurrection is allowed, if we can get Mad Caw to travel back in time 150 years?

Watch Sinema and Manchin also fock this one up. Bipartisanship!

If your lawyer needs to cite The Confederate Amnesty Act to save your bacon…you’re in deep doo-doo.

Hahahahaha, good luck with that, Maddy!

The very fact that they’re resorting to this, shows he’s already sunk.

Grandfathered amnesty.

Now I’ve heard everything…

Well, kudos to Cawthorn’s lawyer for finding the defense most applicable to his client’s case.

Is the creep wearing an updated Confederate uniform in that photo?

The argument from Cawthorn lawyer James Bopp Jr. came in response to

Um, lawyer Wop-Boppa Loo-Bop a Wop Bam Boom, if you’re engaging these folks on the merits of the argument, you’re losing. Carry on, my wayward one.

I’m not sure calling yourself a confederate traitor is the win he thinks it is. Maybe it is in his district - I don’t really know - but, damn, surely not the defense I would make if there were any other options.

Just think, he was paid to do this.

If he’s part of the Confederacy, then he isn’t an American and is therefore ineligible to run.

Have to be a US citizen, right??? LOL!!!

Hey, if we’re going to travel back 150 years, why don’t we travel back a few hundred more so that I can get a land grant for everything west of the Mississippi?

So… His own lawyer just confessed that he was part of the insurrection…

But he doesn’t know what his district is. He elbowed out markymeadows’ preferred successor in NC-11, and now he wants to hop over to NC-14, which was redistricted specially for a different GOP pol, favored by the local party.

Reminds me of the Andy Griffith episode where an old timer wanted to cash in some old bonds that would have bankrupted Mayberry from the accrued interest, until Andy figured out they were Confederate bonds.

Hilarity ensued…

Is it tacky to ask if he really meant to say “our backbones are made of steel and titanium”?

The bright side is after this defense results in Cawthorn’s electoral defeat, we can all tweet “Cry more, idiot.”
