A Long Island man was arrested for threatening the life of a Republican congressman who voted for the bipartisan infrastructure spending bill, just the latest in an emerging pattern of threats aimed at Republicans who’ve worked with Democrats.
If they have the audio recordings traced back to the perpetrator, there should be no delay in punishing these guys.
Between this and the jury that is requesting protection against mobs, we are treading dangerously close to a lawlessness this country hasn’t seen in a very long time and apparently has no idea how to deal with.
We keep waiting for our better angels to intervene but, as with most things, we have to take some actions ourselves.
This has become quite scary. Sure, disagree with a vote, but threatening to kill the person? Have these people all succumbed to some brain disease? Are they really that upset with their miserable lives that they turn to murder? Thanks, Former Guy, for unleashing all the pent-up crazies in this country.
Reuters compiled a long, long list of alarming threats by Trump-cultists against school board members, elected Democrats, officials promoting vaccines, masking, etc. I mean, some pretty hair-raising shit. They actually talked to a bunch of the people who made the threats, who were unashamed and unapologetic. In all cases, the relevant police authorities did–nothing.
Whatever this dude said to the GOPer, it must have been off the charts to warrant an arrest and indictment. Or maybe it’s just that he’s a Republican.
More of this please, much more. And also look into Gosar and others. We should have higher expectations of those entrusted with making our laws than the general public, not lower as it appears to be.
Anyone else feel motivated to call these reps’ offices and make clear that we’re not likely to agree on anything else, but thank them for their vote and for helping to move the country forward in this one instance?
Merrick Garland must have been in the toilet when these charges were filed, otherwise he’d have put a halt to them. You just can’t go around in these sensitive political times making people responsible for their criminal acts.
Threatened U.S. election workers get little help from law enforcement
Because the the people making the threats and the cops are on the same side. Same goes to murderers like Rittenhouse and the McMichaels, they are just doing the things that cops would like to do themselves.
Speaking of lawless people, Meadows refused to appear. He’ll argue that the courts need to resolve the EP question, which is pretty much like saying “Yeah, well, PROVE 2+2=4.”
