Mr. King was one of the Republicans I could listen to…sometimes. Methinks he sees the writing on the wall…at least for his district.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. A decade or so ago, when he was chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, and proper American etiquette was to be very, very scared of another 9/11, he was mumbling all kinds of alarmist nonsense about Islamo-fascism and attacking everyone who didn’t go along.
For some reason, no one called him out on the fact that two decades before that, he was an IRA supporter. He could have been jailed as a “material supporter” of terrorism by the very law he was now touting to imprison Seven-Eleven clerks who look at you crosswise.
The outer boroughs of NYC and their further suburban extensions produce creatures every bit as retrograde as your stereotypical Southern redneck yahoo, and King was among the worst.

However, after jumping up and whooping (and considering having an alcoholic beverage at 10 AM) upon first reading this in the WaPo, I had to acknowledge the reality that the Nassau and Suffolk Counties GOP machine will most certainly replace him with someone at least as vile.
