President Donald Trump is slated to hold a press conference with his White House coronavirus task force to discuss “very important news” from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding COVID-19 on Wednesday at 11:30 AM EST.
He THINKS he looks cute, knowledgeable (thanks all of you folks with butterknife responses to his lies), and in control (with bobble-headed sycophant staffers behind him scared for their lives).
But he has big news from the FDA! A cure, no doubt.
“We have a cure! Everyone, just hang in there until we get it tested, and wait for enough voters to die off in the coastal blue states… wait, did I say that out loud?”
high five to the technician holding up the test card for the camera (NPR feed) talking on his cell phone.
“What do you mean, the iris didn’t close? (White: 5800K) Try again. (White: 4400K) It’s me, what do you expect?”
photographer shows him his cell phone…
“Oh no, don’t print that.”
“No, no, that’s NPR.”
FunFact™: If all of those experts lined up at the podium for 2 hours every day instead used those 2 hours to actually manage the crisis, we’d be a bit further ahead on things.
BI would like to make a modest proposal. Understanding the most fatal impact of Covid 45 is on those over 70, my cohort, I suggest we stop all this social distancing and lock downs etc. We should return to our normal activities and life style. Let the chips fall as they may.
The likely outcome would be shorter life spans for those over 70 (again, my cohort). The shorter lives will mean we collect Social Security for less time and hit up MediCare less; consequently, making less of a dent in the trust funds. This will allow the badministration to raid the unused money to build the wall.
FDA has fast-tracked approval of two new test kits, that happened yesterday.
Problems are
-both test kits require same machines as other kits to read, and these are not plentiful
-both require trained staff to read and interpret results, which needs ramping up
-both require scarce reagents to produce the results
I disagree. Trump isn’t faced with “nasty questions” at his rallies.
I mean, the guy and his political appointees are horrible, and juust about the worst imaginable to be at the wheel during a genuine crisis. But better off having these pressers than reverting entirely to governance-by-tweet.
Covid-19 has claimed 55 people in Washington state over 1000 positive tests. We have an ER doc on a vent, 26 healthcare workers have tested positive -18 at the UW Medical Center. Screw these PR campaigns, press conference nonsensical attempts to burnish Trump’s image. He is the face of incompetence -massive deadly incompetence.
