PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The governors of Oregon and New Mexico ordered near-lockdowns Friday in the most aggressive response yet to the latest wave of coronavirus infections shattering records across the U.S., even as many of their counterparts in other states show little appetite for reimposing the hard-line restrictions of last spring.
I blame the fucking idiots who weren’t wearing masks at the grocery store this morning. Maybe half were. My god, we’re in the middle of a pandemic, how stupid can you be?
To return to normality
will take more than a plurality
We must see
that on November three
Trumppence
meets their comeuppance
The reign of COVID has been too long
The force of ignorance in these two Is strong
We lead the world in mortality
Our leadership, of questionable morality
It’s such a simple task:
Wear a fucking mask!
Before this country is reduced to tatters
Vote - because it matters
The economy can’t recover until the pandemic is brought under control. Republican refusal to provide relief to workers compounds the problem. The current plan to open the economy provides only short term benefits compared to massive costs of a continuation of increasing cases. No other developed nation has been so foolish.
Here in PA our Governor Wolf tries to save lives which seems to upset the Republicans in our Congress.
The Die For Donnie COVID Death March is still alive in PA.
At this moment the unmasked idiots of the Million Maggot March are descending on DC. Because of road closures they are without their trucks and have no choice but to waddle around in circles trying to wave their 10 foot flags. I am staying away but enjoying footage on local news.
At the grocery store yesterday even people wearing masks roll right up on you don’t respect any distance, and there were about 10% not wearing masks at all and walking right up to people around people through people. So even if they are wearing masks, there are still people who ruin the effect by not maintaining space. The whole store has lines on the floor so you know which aisle you walk a certain direction, and it’s pretty easy and if just 75% of the people follow the flow you can keep your distance… But it doesn’t take many people to screw it all up go in the wrong way on the aisles, or it feels like they are stalking you. It is a weird dance where you try to keep your distance from everybody and it doesn’t take more than a couple folks to screw it all up
[Paxton] called the appeals court’s Friday decision “outstanding,” adding that “I will not let rogue political subdivisions try to kill small businesses and holiday gatherings through unlawful executive orders.”
“I will, however, allow rogue political bullshit to kill as many citizens as possible and throw in some official sounding words like ‘unlawful executive orders.’ You can’t Make America Great Again without breaking a few eggs, amirite?”
From article:
The current spike in cases — which some states are calling a [third wave] has brought more than 100,000 new cases a day since Nov. 4. But that’s not counting those that may be going undetected. “We have widespread, uncontrolled COVID-19 in many parts of the country,” says Dr. Amesh Adalja, senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. “And we know the cases reported are an underestimate of what is out there … we’re missing many cases because people aren’t getting tested. So the true number is much higher than what we’re actually seeing.”
