‘Life Is Still Here’: Archbishop Holds Remote Good Friday Worship In Notre Dame | Talking Points Memo

PARIS (AP) — Still damaged and scarred by fire, Notre Dame Cathedral came back to life — if only for a fleeting instant — as a center for prayer on Friday in a Paris locked down against the coronavirus.

Judith Chemla sang a stunningly beautiful “Ave Maria” a capella. Very poignant as the cameraman showed the damaged cathedral.

I love that song. Gets me every time.

Social-distancing must really put a crimp in priests’ ability to molest children. I guess the virus has some benefits.

If you haven’t been to Paris and seen this spectacular church, Notre Dame, you should put it on your bucket list. It’s still magnificent even in its traumatized state. It’s shame that the USA, with more billionaires than any other country, cannot chip in to put Her back as She was. Zuck or Gates could write a check that would restore Notre Dame and endear America in the hearts of the French all over again. Shame.

We have seen it. Beautiful and filled with history. Went to Paris when my daughter was doing a semester at Grenoble, and she met up with us. Spent ten wonderful days there. We were heartbroken when the cathedral burned.
I’d bet some Americans are contributing to the restoration.
