A Democratic congressman is calling on House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to remove Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) from the House Judiciary Committee over “an untenable conflict of interest,” citing a Daily Beast report that includes a confession letter allegedly written by Joel Greenberg claiming that he and Gaetz paid for sex with multiple women including an underage teenage girl.

Naturally, if we wait for Republicans to do the right thing, we’ll be waiting until Gaetz’ next election.
Ted Lieu is an excellent tactician and is excellent at messaging and yet I still hope that Gaetz stays in, the longer the better, precisely so that Lieu and his caucus can keep hammering Gaetz as poster-boy for GOP degeneracy and corruption.

The larger issue in the Daily Beast article is the rather streamlined ability to purchase pardons in the latter days of the last administration. Apparently the going price was at least $250k.
One-quarter scale 50 pound replicas of Gaetz should be manufactured (out of a noxious stinking plastic) and hung - by a locked chain - around the neck of every Republican who has protected/ accommodated / passively supported him and his repugnant behavior!
… and then they can all go for a swim!
The Daily Beast is running an article claiming to show that 1) Greenberg accused Gaetz of sex trafficking a child; 2) appears to be offering cash to Roger Stone to obtain a pardon for Greenberg, from Trump.
Just imagine the conversations taking place right now between Gaetz and the FBI - that is, if you can imagine Gaetz doing the smart thing. If he’s smart he’ll be singing like a canary and trading his songs for a bit more freedom.
But we know he’s not smart. Not one little bit. So, he’ll refuse to cooperate. The Feds will obtain his information from other sources. By the time dumbass Matt realizes his situation he’ll have lost his only bargaining chip.
“I made no formal or informal effort in regard to a pardon for Mr. Greenberg,” Stone reportedly said, adding that he had not requested or received “a penny” from Greenberg.
So, in summation, Stone got paid and asked for the pardon.

I cannot understand why the Department of Justice is letting pedophiles, child molesters and human traffickers roam freely. They should be in jail pending trial.
“From time to time, gas money or gifts, rent or partial tuition payments were made to several of these girls, including the individual who was not yet 18. I did see the acts occur firsthand and Venmo transactions, Cash App or other payments were made to these girls on behalf of the Congressman.”
There is not enough bleach in the world to erase that image if it were my eyes.
The most delicious thing about this latest nugget isn’t so much that Matt Gaetz is one step closer to getting his well-deserved comeuppance.
It’s that we now know Roger Stone is too.
I find this all so hard to believe. Gaetz seems so honest and clean cut. Why, he could be a TV preacher.

Knowing Stone’s history of slime tricks, I suggest vetting that letter thoroughly.
“Should,” like “needs to,” is a chimera: pleasant to consider, unfortunately irrelevant to action.
I believe the Feds, under Garland, want to get them all. None of it will happen easily, or as swiftly as we’d hope.
