'Course, this is only Trump’s contribution.

Very very very true. It doesn’t only hurt us gay folk.

i.e., promised to protect his son from any repercussions for having helped Trump launder Russian money via Deutsche Bank

Frankly, I think that connection helped him get the GQP establishment behind him, because they knew they could use it on Kennedy. Just like Ginni compromises Clarence, Kennedy’s son compromised Kennedy.

No extradition to states seeking to prosecute women or anyone else who receives or provides care here. Sometimes enablers trying to get into heaven can be useful I suppose…

That sounds right to me. Well spotted. Any legal people want to jump in @txlawyer?

Those who expect women to sit quietly while women in their lives suffer and die in service to the religlous beliefs of these Justices are apt to be surprised.

This fall, Republicans are going to learn the “find out” part.

That’s the Elie Mystal argument, and it’s bunk. Pregnancy is not work.

Biden clearly points the finger today…“It was three justices named by one president Donald Trump … to upend the scales of justice and eliminate a fundamental right for women in this country,” said Biden, who rarely speaks about Trump by name.

There are also some men who will likewise not sit quietly while the women in their lives suffer for these justices’ religious inclinations.

The real decline of the Republican Party started in the 1950’s - early 1960’s, when there was resistance towards many programs that were designed to help people in this country. Was it racial in origin - yes. In the 1990’s, we had the moral majority, whose hypocrites mastered the use of mass media to sell fear to an uninformed segment of this country who accepted that they were missing out on things going to others. These politicians were as ethically corrupt as any we’ve seen, but they sold it well.

Between these years, the Republican Party worked to take control of municipal and state government to control and pass agenda items designed to maintain their control by constantly push the fear of white male loss of control over matters. It came to a head with Trump and the entire Republican Party leadership and party who supported and looked the other way (they did not use their vote to check him) while Trump did everything to hurt this country. That is why McConnell should never be forgotten or forgiven. It has gotten worse as Republican leadership knows demographics are against them, and their time is limited. That is one of the driving forces for their extreme actions, as they are loosing power. This is the culmination of their fears. They have nothing to loose except power and control, so I no longer believe that they can be reasoned with or will work with any opposition.

We are now in a position as a Nation where we need to ask if we care about the future of this country and all of its citizens independent of their sex, religion and even political beliefs. I think the majority of US citizens do.

I am reminded once again of a quote I read in Ron Chernow’s book “Grant” where I came across a quote from Lincoln who was meeting Grant just after Lincoln’s second election (touch and go) during the Civil War who quoted Secretary of State Seward: “that there was always just enough virtue in the republic to save it; sometimes none to spare, but still enough to meet the emergency”. We’ll get though this period and then perhaps have the opportunity to complete a list of unfinished tasks for the betterment of this country.

So now is the time to organize and fight back at all levels of government. It’s a marathon, and the Republicans will loose if the rest of this Nation wakes up and stays the course. In fact, I would submit this is now the beginning of the end of the Republican Party as we know it (the old one died 50-60 years ago and only inertia and people unwilling to accept the reality have kept it in existence). Volunteer for any and all outreach efforts to fight back. Help ensure the right to vote. And vote. Time to push the morphed Republican Party into historical oblivion where they belong. Let’s treat all people in this country with respect and give all the change to succeed, not just those currently catered to by Republican leadership.

I agree that the potential is very much there, but it takes organization to make that actually happen.

This will be a bottom up resistance. Dem leaders have not shown the fight needed.

Just because ol’ Clarence is looking for a justification to annul his marriage and get away from Ginni, why must the rest of the country suffer?

Asking for 380M Americans…

Because you could have stopped this and chose not to. A lot of talk but not willing to do the walk. Not even in something as simple as treating women correctly in Bernie’s campaign.

I won’t tell Mrs VH you said that or the TX power system would go down again from the ensuing heat blast.

We should stop referring to the Majority on the Court as “Conservative”.

They are not. What they are are Radical Rightists.

It was Karl Rove who 20 years ago predicted that the ”permanent Republican majority” would be enabled at the state level.
