Lev Parnas Says Many GOPers Are ‘Scared’ Of DOJ Investigating Them On Trump’s Behalf

And since many of them were entrenched incumbents, the resignations or decisions not to run make it much easier for a decent Dem candidate to take the spot. Maybe not for all of them, but for enough to make a difference in the next Congress.

I asked yesterday how did Lev and Igor get their introductions to higher up Republican politicians, and thus Rudy Colludy? Was DeSantis the starting point on their journey?

And I’ve been thinking about this other thing Parnas described. All the meetings in DC at Trump’s hotel. Which led me to think back on the cost of security for Trump. Has anyone else gotten the impression that as President Trump is spending a lot of time schmoozing with high dollar donors? Is this happening at a private area in the DC hotel? How many meetings a week is Trump having by leaving the WH and going to his hotel? Is this one of the reasons why the Secret Service is costing a hell of a lot money?

Check as many boxes as apply. Lev Parnas is a life preserver for this lot.

While Lev Parnas is no John Dean?
We don’t need a John Dean in these circumstances.
Just a healthy Lev Parnas and a MSM willing to write the truth that’s found out.

Our justice department has become overrun by christian conservative extremists, white nationalist and agents of the Russian government.

Parnas is on record now.

The Feds have the receipts in the confiscated phones and documents.

This is real and it’s very hard for the Right to spin this any other way. If Parnas survives to testify under oath (and survival is very much in question just now), that’s when it will all come together.

Although we are running out of time, the AG can be impeached.

Maybe, but I’m sceptical - if the DOJ is that political (hah! - of course it is) then I think Dems would be as - or more - scared of an investigation. And not one of them has flipped.
Trump has more influence over the GOP base, and that’s where the fear lies.
Also, Parnas interviews dovetail waaay to closely to the Dem line about Ukraine. I’m suspicious. I am still traumatized by the way the Mueller investigation went south.

Bush, Cheney, Powell… etc. never faced charges for war crimes irt Iraq. I imagine it’ll go pretty much like that.

Not disagreeing, but it goes even deeper. It appears that all that’s necessary to get an appointee fired – or moved out of the way – is to pass the word that he/she is not totally loyal. As lawyers say, see, e.g. Marie Yovanovitch (from NPR):

Her Ukrainian enemies [who we now know were Lutsenko and Shokin] undermined her by spreading unsubstantiated claims to the U.S. — in particular, that she was disloyal to Trump.

The difference between Trump and John Gotti is the lack of a firearm, though as Trump suggests, even if he used one on 5th Avenue . . . .

There may be a few honest ones left. We have to hope so and that they can continue with the breakthroughs.

Are you hinting that a bunch of Republicans are suffering from Peyronie disease?

Yes, he’s testifying (talking) on TV to protect himself.

There is a large gap between Parnas and Bolton … it would be good if there was a stepping stone or two of additional corroborating evidence that quickly emerged.

You are correct; however, that was a deliberate decision on the part of Pelosi to not do the prosecutions - her reasoning was to put that whole mess behind us. Unfortunately, as much as I like Nancy, it just emboldened the right to keep doing this stuff behind closed doors and pretty much brings us to where we are today. The decision not to prosecute was a mistake.

In the meantime, I don’t think I’ve seen any of that administration ever leave the country. Think about it - W, Powell, Cheney, Rumsfeld - what international events have they attended off US soil in the last 20 years? There’s probably a reason for that and the Hague probably figures prominently in that reason.

I think Lev Parnas says something all know, but is not that important really. More important is that many rank and file government employees are afraid to come forward.

And, the sad fact that most of those GOP politicians want Benadick Donnie two scoops to have that power so he can cover their collective asses.

I’m guessing because he’s a grifter/crook and has nothing substantial to offer because he’s not part of the administration. Sure, he was in a photo with Trump, but so was that dog Conan.
Everything he has to offer is hearsay and opinions related to Trump. There’s no direct contact except with Rudy.
Someone like Bolton is who we need to hear honest testimony from, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for it.

It’s much like they used to see Dubya’s frequent gaffes as proof that he was “one of us”. They’ve been conditioned all their lives to loathe pointy-headed “libtards” who they have difficulty understanding because said PHL use too many “50-cent” words they don’t comprehend.

So how come we don’t know the cost, you may ask. According to the WaPo, folks have tried to find out, and Munchkin has promised to release those figures, um, let’s see, right after the 2020 election. Still, here’s part of the Post report:

The government spent about $96 million on travel by Obama over eight years, according to documents obtained by the conservative group Judicial Watch. A report by the Government Accountability Office, which serves as the congressional watchdog on federal spending, estimated that Trump’s travel cost $13.6 million in just one month in early 2017. That total included the costs of travel for Secret Service and Defense Department personnel, and the costs of renting space and operating equipment such as boats and planes. If spending continued at that pace, Trump would have exceeded Obama’s total expenses before the end of his first year in office.

The extensive international business travel and vacations of his grown children, with Secret Service agents in tow, as well as the expense the Secret Service incurs to secure numerous Trump properties, have added to the agency’s financial strain, according to its budget requests.

Since their father was elected, Trump’s sons Eric and Donald Jr. have made business trips to overseas locales including Ireland, Scotland, Dubai, Uruguay and India. In 2017, Eric Trump’s visit to a Trump building under construction in Uruguay cost taxpayers $97,000.
