Let The Golden Dukes 2023 Voting Begin: Santos Was Just The Tip Of The Iceberg

Sure, it was an epic year for public corruption on a large scale, but also on stupid and small scales. For one thing, George Santos existed. But the expelled congressman’s resume padding and (alleged) fraud was given a run for its money by Sen. Robert Menendez’s (D-NJ) insatiable appetite for (allegedly) accepting bribes in the form of gold bars, or Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ gluttonous penchant for luxury yachts and vacations with billionaires.

It’s almost painful to have to make some of these choices. Like the judiciary category? can we please have a 3-way tie between Clarence, Alito, and Cannon?

And how all the contenders must be breathing a sigh of relief that George Santos was around this year to take the spotlight off of everyone else’s wrongdoings! But I really think this year’s big title should also be a tie between Clarence and George. Both of them with ongoing sagas where the grift just keeps on grifting.

BTW, I love the “Summer of George” reference.

I really think that Clarence Thomas should get the prize this year. No one has ever deserved it more than that poor excuse of a man.

I agree Clarence Thomas takes the cake or the Duke this year. He just keeps on giving in a grave and consequential way.

The real hero is Propublica for it’s focused reporting on SCOTUS😜

It was a bountiful year for scandal, corruption and general douche baggery.

Welcome. Nice shout out to Propublica.

Decisions, decisions. So much moral turpitude highlighted in this year’s Golden Dukes!

I don’t think it is entirely fair. Some people only make life-changing mistakes every few weeks, and others who screw up constantly build up a little immunity. If MTG is awful every second of the year, should she be more rewarded than a senator who shows up with gold bars only now and then? Maybe next year we will have AI to help with these difficult decisions.

Truly an embarrassment of riches.

For some reason the pie charts showing accumulated votes double the number of categories. If there are four choices for each award, the pie chart will show eight categories.
So, for example, votes for Clarence Thomas will be split into two slices of the pie chart.

TPM left out George Santos’ most spirited alter-ego in the voting: Kitara Ravache!

Edit: Name corrected. Thanks @jientho!

Ravache. For most effective cut-down, you gotta get the details right. (I remember someone once debating me about the importance of the construction of words in an atheism online debate. I let him go on for a while about entomology this and entomology that before finally asking why he was bringing the study of insects into it.)

Normally I don’t care what couples do in their bedroom. But I want MORE information about the Ziegler’s and I want this information ALL out in the public!! I want to expose their hypocrisy and for them to be personally and politically destroyed by this!! For all the pain that they have caused others, karmic payback is a bitch!!

And these choices were hard!

I came, I read, I voted and I now need a really hot shower.

I had to go with Alito in the judges section for his single handed assault on every female in the country. Clarence is Clarence and 25 years of selling your vote takes some beating though.

MTG would be in the running for a lifetime achievement award. She’d lose to Orange Jesus.

Yes, I too was hoping to see Sexy Kit.

Concur…some categories needed an “all of the above”.
