Lee lies about distance from Big Lie.
“Lee has previously compared Trump with Captain Moron-i.”
The jokes, they write themselves.
Don’t have to be a Mormon to know which way the Lee is full of shit. C’mon Utah.
Lovely
Deseret News, the church-owned newspaper in Salt Lake, opposed Trump for not upholding “the ideals and values of this community.”
Folks, when you’re right, you’re right.
Trump doesn’t believe in one God, much less three.
I grew up in Salt Lake, and this article is pretty good. If you took the Utah from 50 years ago and put it in today, it wouldn’t vote for Trump or Lee, as despite being conservative it was also not a place that would go along with someone like that. It used to elect Democrats to office based on character. Now, some of the conservative crud has infected the Republican party in the state, but it’s not a place that is happy when things go too far…Trump did poorly in the state because of this.
Democrats aren’t going to win much out side of Salt Lake, but this is a case where the Republican really could lose because he’s such an awful person. McMullin won’t go along with the Democrats on much, but he won’t go along with MAGA at all, so he would be a vast improvement over Lee.
Uh … you mean like the “martyrs” of the early Catholic Church?
Utah women for the most part are offended by the orange things, his morals are lacking, his lies are abundant and there’s nothing there for people who hold deep religious beliefs whether we agree with them or not. But Lee is showing himself again he’s in it for the win alone and not because he has any principles about his fellow Utahans and what he might be doing for them.
The most American of all religions seems much nicer than most Americans.
Lee slithers like a live reptile.
No character and he thinks he can lie like Trump.
Now that’s ill-advised.
Lee is a lock step Republican and therefor a trumper as much as the GOP Senate is trump dominated. If the choice is to do something for Utah citizens, or cave to McConnell, Utah can pound sand. McMullin at least is not that.
This race is only casual interest. Lee might lose but I suspect McMullin will caucus with the Republicans.
I live in a predominantly LDS community and my daughter married a Mormon man who is a wonderful guy and a great father. Until recently, they lived by an older LDS couple who are staunch believers and very, very conservative. They are both as nice as can be and my grandchildren loved to spend time at their house because they had hundreds of toys and games for the neighborhood kids to play.
In 2020, I was outside my daughter’s house and I saw them in the street, looking up at the sky. I asked what they were doing and she said they were waiting to see Trump’s plane fly over - he was flying in for another one of his rallies that night. They couldn’t have been more starstruck. I just nodded and smiled.
Andy Biggs is my rep, and a more vile election denying Trump supporting piece of shit you won’t find anywhere. Democrats do not have a prayer in my district, but there is a man named Clint Smith, a member of the LDS church, running against him as an independent. Clint Smith is actually a very decent human being (I know him personally) who is running simply to reclaim some sanity and legitimacy for the office. He was instrumental in helping to recall Russell Pearce after he passed the notorious “papers please” law here in AZ about a decade ago. You might be surprised at some of Smith’s positions on issues.
Sample: HIs response to the Dobbs decision
Smith: There is no place for the government in decisions made between a woman and her doctor. I will support a proposal by Congress that restores that freedom to women and their families.
That is not something you will hear very often from an LDS member.
It is a small ray of sunshine. Biggs has enough money to buy half of Mesa, and Smith is dependent on small donors like my wife and me. I have no illusions about how the race is going to go, but it is heartening to see people who are in the LDS church fighting back against this bullshit. There are not near enough, but they are out there.
“Only in Utah” is a common expression here. Now we can say, only in Utah could we have two Republicans running against each other in a general election. The Utah Democratic Party didn’t nominate a Senate candidate, so I am not voting at all. Lee and McMullin agree totally on every issue except for supporting Trump.
Maybe he believes in himself as a god.
Trump’s God is Ayn AS IN MINE Rand and his Jesus is John Galt.
That’s a pretty big “except”, though. Why do you conclude that not voting at all sends a stronger message than voting against republicans?
