The end of a court decree that barred so-called “ballot security” activity by certain Republicans is a big deal for President Trump’s re-election efforts.
Republicans will cheat and bully. Sure as rain.
And what will Democrats do to challenge those efforts–because it’s clear as day that we can’t count on the DOJ for help.
The Resistance in WI needs to get on this shit that these Rs are trying to pull. Maybe have a bunch of secretly Democratic but MAGA hat wearing volunteers show up to WI RNC and ask to be poll watchers. Then, when they’re hired to monitor the polls, pull the switcheroo and allow anyone to vote without any challenges or intimidation. Sorta like infiltrating their voter suppression operations. Just spitballing here.

A synonym for “ballot security” is “voter intimidation.”
From 1982 until 2017 Republicans have been constrained, is this why they devised all the gerrymandering of Congressional districts? Is this why they moved from direct contact at polling places to purging voter lists? Reducing the number of polling places in minority neighborhoods?
I just did the maths and figured out that the RNC has been under this consent decree pretty much my whole voting life. But in that time my community moved from Republican to Democratic leaning.
Trump’s idea fixe about voter fraud is like his idea fixe about US foreign aid, no factual basis for either.
The Democrats need to get thousands of volunteers out to the polling places to immediately document on their cell phones any actions by the Republicans to intimidate voters, and, if needed, to confront those Republicans directly.
So far this morning, this is the only thread for me that allows comments. Seems like others are in the same boat. Oh well…Just another glitch in the space-time continuum.

What good is that if it can’t be litigated until after some Rethug has already stolen an election? No. They need to get ahead of this as a frontal assault on their election. Not after the fact, where the Rs always win by cheating. Somehow they always end up profiting from these kinds of actions even later. I have yet to see any election overturned afterwards except maybe that one in NC where the cheating in the end actually led to a Republican winning anyway, even though its still questionable as to whether the Dem, McCready, had won the first time around. I’m just not sure how Dems get ahead of this other than a massive public awareness campaign using that tape to show how low the Republicans in WI will go.

Yes, and this is an important subject but it’s a known, chronic problem. Thing is we basically just declared war on Iran and amid other interesting possible responses their parliament just vowed to throw us out of Iraq. We’ll end up having less influence in the region than Liechtenstein at this rate.
I don’t know about other states, but in California it is illegal to take pictures inside the polling place, or to talk to voters challenge them or interfere with poll workers. You can’t display candidate information or paraphernalia with in 100 ft. of the polling station either. We need an army of lawyers at swing district polling places.

I read on cnn ,com that trump was actually having “two scoops” as the news broke of Soleimani’s date with destiny on the road to the Baghdad airport. One cannot make up stuff like this.

This AM I’m in a strange mood reading the response to what Trump has wrought in Iraq. Someone on here must have “start a war with Iran” on their bingo card. And is it just me or should we sneak someone into the next Trump “love me” rally to start the McCain chant
“bomb, bomb, bomb,

Wheeeeeeee! Here we go again. The intimidation at minority and heavily Democratic precincts is going to be ferocious this year. Democrats need to have a counterforce in place to push back on these assholes trying to take away people’s franchise. I am going to volunteer locally. If you can, please join me.
Although Iran is the concern today, this story is as good as any to respond to because it has to do with voting, which then leads to voters, which then leads to what these voters think and feel, which then leads to making sure that these voters get the access they deserve.
I believe that most people (here at TPM and elsewhere) believe that Trump (or any GOPer in a blue or purple state) cannot win in 2020 without cheating, in its many forms.
One of trump’s cracks on tweeter was about Iran negotiating power. The dotard does not have any idea how deep into Iranian culture bargaining goes. He thinks he is much the better at it. Not.
Cheating is in trump’s DNA. He was instructed by daddy Fred and Roy Cohn in how to get stuff for nothing and stiff the other guy for good measure just cuz.
