All or nearly all of Pierce’s clients had public defenders before he signed them up by selling them a horseshit legal defense that insurrecting is okay because Trump gave them permission. Notably, Brent Bozell IV is among this schmuck’s J6 clients, which fully validates my theory that four generations of imbeciles is enough.

One thing attorneys get in trouble for is, as my mother used to say, “having eyes bigger than their stomachs.” Taking on too much and failing to perform is a good way to get crosswise with the bar.

These capitol riot cases are complex. Even an attorney with a few licensed associates and a good size staff would have difficulty keeping up with 17. I’d say Pierce has taken on at least 4-5 times as many as he could possibly hope to handle competently.

So, sick or not, he has good reason to want out of this mess. Even if he’s just out for a week with “exhaustion,” I doubt that he will be handling all these cases when he comes back. The question is whether he will be handling any.
