A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.
Tennessee state Sen. Frank Niceley gave what he called a “history on homelessness” on the Senate floor on Wednesday in which he claimed that Nazi leader Adolf Hitler managed to escape homelessness when he “practiced his oratory and his body language and how to connect with citizens” on the streets “and then went on to lead a life that got him in the history books.” So what’s your excuse, homeless people?
I’m enjoying the sunshine too but I do have a thought. I knew a guy who was a flight instructor, and he told me about students who just didn’t seem to be catching on to the stuff they needed to know, and how he felt he needed to suggest that maybe flying wasn’t the ideal hobby for them. In that spirit, I’d like to make a suggestion to our friend in Tennessee there and everyone else who wants to talk about Hitler: If you can’t fucking remember whether you should speak approvingly or disapprovingly about Hitler, or have any ambivalence on that subject, then you probably shouldn’t talk about Hitler at all. Or enter into contracts, or be allowed to handle matches, I would think, but certainly ix-nay with the talking about itler-Hay.
A Russian navy cruiser that was infamously cursed out by a brave Ukrainian soldier at the start of the war has been “badly damaged,” according to the Russian defense ministry. But just how Russia’s most powerful battleship—the Slava-class cruiser Moskva —was crippled remains unclear. Russia has claimed ammunition on the ship blew up, forcing the crew to evacuate, while a Ukrainian official previously pinned the damage on two missiles. The cruiser, part of Russia’s fleet in the Black Sea, was at the center of a now-infamous moment of heroism by Ukrainian border guards on Snake Island who bravely told the warship to “Go fuck yourself” when it told them to surrender in February. A recording of the soldier’s words instantly went viral.
Aw, now, don’t let yourself feel blue because some state legislator said a dumb. You’d never have a good day. The flowers are just as lovely and the coffee smells as good. You enjoy this day and whatever gods may be will smile with you.

If Adolph Hitler is your role model, you are one screwed up white nationalist. I guess Niceley is what passes for a thought leader in today’s Tennessee GOP.
Senator Niceley (ironic) should be featured in every Democrat’s campaign ads. Every single one. What an absolutely bonkers thing to say. But he thought that was the correct comparison to make. Unreal.
the reason then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) didn’t publicly acknowledge that Trump was lying about the 2020 election before Jan. 6 was because he didn’t want to piss off the then-president and jeopardize the Georgia Senate runoff elections
Of course not, because Party Over Country. Which is why Democrats need to use the TN senator’s words in every ad: the GOP won’t denounce him.
I don’t know which is worse for the Russian Navy. Admitting the Ukrainians hit it with a missile or confessing they are so incompetent it just exploded.
Bottom line the Moskva was the flag ship of the Russian fleet off Odessa. Today it is either an abandoned burning wreck or it is on the bottom.
Hopefully the polling is accurate and Kemp will indeed win the Georgia primary. Perhaps Perdue should preemptively declare victory, stating that only massive election fraud could cause him to ‘lose’. Or like any good repub he could ask himself WWHD? (what would hitler do).
I heard last night it capsized pretty early on. Doubtful it’s still floating.
Do you remember where? I looked over everything I could find earlier and didn’t see anything about that. Some aid ships in the area, probably looking for survivors.
