Many of the changes House Republicans shoved into the bill directly target the Medicaid expansion population — the group that received eligibility for health care coverage under the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion.
Despite Republicans’ well-worn rhetoric around addressing “waste, fraud and abuse,” the changes add up to a back handed GOP effort to repeal Obamacare as we know it — a goal congressional Republicans loudly tried and failed at dozens of times before, including during the first Trump administration.
My question is why does MAGA support ending health insurance for millions of Americans, many of them people just like them. I know in the beginning it was thought that the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid Expansion were ways Democrats got goodies to blacks, women and others Republicans thought were undesirables. As it turned out and as we all know now the people who benefitted the most by the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid Expansion where young white people (especially rural young white people) struggling to survive economic circumstances much worse than their parents. The very children of the MAGA faithful. Why do middle aged MAGA people hate their children?.

As we should note from the heavy presence of fundi Protestant sects in Today’s Trumpublican Party, “belief” without evidence, coupled with obedience, plays a huge role. Faith. That, and simply wanting to think it’s only “those people” who are soaking up all the tax money paid by us hard working Good americans.
And an unreasonable level of “they need to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps” (whatever “boot straps” are supposed to be). A recollection of Olden Times when one man’s blue collar factory job supported a stay at home housewife and four kids. When a kid could put himself through college with an after school job as a “soda jerk” or “paper boy.”
Lots of people haven’t really kept up. And don’t want to. The relative worker’s paradise of the 1940s and 1950s, where income inequality was orders of magnitudes less than today sounds pretty good!

Valentine’s buddy is Kombo Kat, another feral rescue who just showed up at my cabin here in the jungle late one night crying outside my steps. He is called Kombo because his markings are a combination of Valentine’s orange tiger stripes and Nosey’s Siamese markings. No idea where he might have come from but he has been a wonderful addition to my household. He and Valentine are as inseparable as the picture indicates

We had two cats. One was a roamer. He brought a friend home. A streetwise combat veteran looking for retirement. He was da bos of the house so we named him Spanky
He was my lap warmer. He became a fat cat 19 pounds on a 10 pound cat frame. He was with us for 21 years. Spanky had permission to go where he pleased but he decided on his own that our property boundry was far enough.

From the Democrracy Docket piece: "The new top voting lawyer at the Department of Justice was until recently an attorney and activist for a leading anti-voting legal group that has worked for years to spread fear about illegal voting and press election officials to tighten voting rules.
"The lawyer, Maureen Riordan, also has appeared with Cleta Mitchell — the right-wing activist who played a key role in President Donald Trump’s failed bid to subvert the results of the 2020 election — backing Mitchell’s pledge to “reclaim our election systems from the left.”
:"Riordan’s appointment, which has not been formally announced by the DOJ, underscores the sharp reverse the department and its voting section have undergone under Trump — from their previous role as a largely consistent defender of voting rights to instead working actively to undermine them.
“A new lawsuit filed Tuesday by the DOJ against North Carolina lists several attorneys on the case, including Riordan, who is identified as “Acting Chief, Voting Section” – the unit tasked with enforcing the nation’s voting rights laws.”
“The lawsuit, which cites Trump’s March executive order intended to tighten voting rules, aims to require North Carolina to do more to collect missing information that’s required by law from people registering to vote.”

Not sure at all about his prior street life but he was skinny and had scars to prove he’d seen combat. He chose us for his retirement from street life. Spanky and our hound dog were best friends. The “family” grew to 3 cats and the dog.

I still haven’t figured out the language being used here. If someone in NC who has been a registered voter for XX amount of years are they suppose to reverify their info? Because some articles make it sound like the Republicans really, really want to disenfranchise every current registered voter, and thus make everyone re-register to vote under their rules.
