Klobuchar Denies That She Declined To Prosecute Officer In Floyd Case In ’06 Shooting | Talking Points Memo

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) said Friday that it was “absolutely false” that she declined to prosecute Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin during her time as a county attorney.

Even if she wasn’t calling the shots, her association with that office and non-prosecution of police is going to sink her VP possibilities. There are others without the baggage, so there’s no reason to bring her in and then try to explain this away.

Sit down, lady.

While I like Klobuchar, she’s from the central part of the country, and so am I. Here’s my but, Amy what’s the racial make up Hennepin County? What was the racial make up of the available jury pool? And what were that stats on police shootings/death of suspects compared to those racial stats? And to throw the hard decision to your select population that can serve on a jury seems a little…how to say…chickenshit.

Bye, bye Amy. You are the last person Biden needs as a VP.

And let me just say I think she would make a great VP, just not in the current climate. And this doesn’t diminish her ability as a Senator to be the change we want to see in Jan. 2021.

The New York Post headline that is getting retweeted is misleading because it makes it sound like she chose not to do anything. Klobuchar brought the case to a Grand Jury, which did not move forward.

That said, Biden can seem clueless on race matters, as can Klobuchar. There are much better choices for VP.

Well, justified or not, Joe’s list for potential VP’s just got shorter.

These yahoos are not smearing her because of the VP slot…they are trying to smear her for FOREVER so they can try and get ANOTHER batsht crazy person in her office. They lurk in Minnesota politics.

Well…she didn’t “decline” this particular case, but there were plenty of similar cases she gave low priority.

For Biden to win, he absolutely needs high black turnout. Klobuchar is not the one who could pull that off, and certainly not after this.

Whatever the merit of her denial, we all know that this would be a constant distraction if she were on the ticket as VP. As much as I love Warren, it’s hard for me to see how Biden can select anyone but Harris or Abrams as VP now, if he wants to preempt GOP/GRU electoral tactics.

Let the Swift-boating commence.

Whether complicit or not, not the baggage we need in a VP candidate.

What a difference a day can make…

Will take her at her word. But, being a middle age white lady may not be the ticket to the ticket, right now. Spoken as a middle age white lady.

Here we go, eating our young. Can anyone here provide one shred of evidence that the 2006 shooting wasn’t justified? Sorry folks, but for all the bad cops and bad shootings out there, there are lots more that are completely justified. I for one want GOOD cops protecting me and my family - and there are lots of them. And when deadly force is necessary to protect my community, I want them to continue to have the authority to use it.

Every one of those cases is, and should be, investigated fairly and thoroughly - and I hope that every one of them is found to be justified.

“I think it is much better if you just take responsibility for that yourself.”

Yeah, well, back in New Jersey, when I was growing up, the insufferable smarty-pantses among us who had a bit of (typically altar-boy) Latin liked to say, “Facta, non verba”, i.e., “Doings, not words”. In plain English, “Talk is cheap”. And so it is with not-quite-a-has-been-because-she-never-really-was Amy Klobuchar: your stock is trading pretty much at zero, so stfu.

Klobuchar did what virtually all county attorneys do in America when knuckled by the police. She stalled the issue for months, then it got buried by a procedure. She’s no better or worse than the others. It’s Chinatown, Jake. When Trump held a Minneapolis rally last year, police union officers attended wearing uniforms and MAGA caps.

Note that the current Hennepin County attorney dumped the responsibility this time onto the state crime bureau, the FBI, the US Attorney and anyone else he could think of. Governor Walz had an overnight chat with him. Today he backtracked and allowed an arrest.

Well, it’s nice to see the Bernie-Bots are out in force today DEMANDING a Race-AND-Sex-based litmus test for Biden’s VP choice and ruthlessly exploiting the heinous murder of a Black Man as a cudgel to pound on a 2 1/2 term Female Senator from Minnesota, who just happens to be White.
Your desire for another “scalp” to hang on your “Woke-Belt” is transparent.

If a Republican did this, demanding a WHITE MALE as VP, you would be howling your heads off about it, but since “Progressives” are doing it on the other end of the spectrum, it must be OK. Right?

Where does it stop? What will satisfy your insatiable need to have your personal cultural-choices validated by endless Virtue-Signaling to others in your Tribe?

Making Amy his VP pick would be a HUGE mistake. I hope Biden gets that.
