That’s it. She developed her reputation for putting her finger in the air to check the wind way before the Franken affair.

She really thought that grabbing the Me Too megaphone to grab attention at the expense of one of the most beloved, and most effective, senators in recent history would catapult her to the presidency.

Delusion isn’t exclusive to the 'pub side of the aisle.

I remember reading that a lot of prominent Democratic Donors on the West Coast and NY stopped donating to her after what she did to Franken. And a lot of them were women, including the founder of a fashion line named Susie Tompkins Buell.

Kirsten just found out how to spell “karma”.

Trump’s marks know he’s putting on an act, and they love him for it.

Gillibrand welcomed and used the help of the Clintons when she wanted Hillary’s senate seat, stood on their shoulders to get it, and didn’t bat an eye before throwing Bill under the Me Too bus when it felt convenient.

That’s not certain yet. If Tom Steyer is able to buy his way in, there’ll be 2 nights.

IIRC, he’s got the cash and maybe the polling but not enough separate donors. (Oh, the pain of being an oligarch, in that your hoarded wealth isn’t universally recognized as a political movement --yet.)

I understand that her “burn rate” was pretty high compared to the money her campaign was able to raise, and that she had pretty much run out of money. Once upon a time I was glad she was thinking of running but those days are long over.

Honestly, I’m more worried now about the Senate than I am about the presidential race. Most of the people I think have a shot at the nomination (whether or not Biden has a shot, I’m reasonably confident that he will not be the nominee) would make good presidents. But without control of the Senate, we’ll have more years of gridlock and obstruction of confirmation of decent judges. I may be a lone voice, but I don’t like the prospect of Baker’s appointing a Republican replacement for Warren.

No, they don’t. They believe the shit he shovels, believe he’s a true christian, believe he’s the only person to speak truth to power, and believe he’s the victim of an unfair media and angry democrats.

They’re every bit as delusional as the Shithead they worship.

I, for one, was disappointed in her, because she had been an effective voice for women, particularly women in the Armed Forces, who experience an exponentially higher level of sexual assault and harassment than civilians. She did a lot to bring that issue to light. But, I fear she became “trigger happy” and lost her way and her senses with Franken. Plus, and now I am speculating, she might have seen him as a future presidential contender, and worth taking out, which is an even worse scenario because it would reflect her political, not ethical motives. Who knows? But, I hope she goes and thinks about why she might have been unappealing, and I hope she reaches out to Franken.

Sad to see her go. I thought she added a lot of value to the campaign. That said, she made some big mistakes too. The biggest was when she equated Bill Clinton’s affair with Monika Lewinsky as a Metoo event. That pissed off a lot of Clinton Dems and donors and it proved to be fatal to her campaign.

Nope. He met the 130k donor threshold and was one poll short of getting the requisite four polls at 2% or better. The qualifying period ends at midnight tonight and all of the latest polls are already out. Steyer didn’t qualify.

No, he has the separate donors but not the polls. He has 3 qualifying polls, so only one more to go. Gabbard has 2 more polls to go. So it’s possible that one of them could be on the stage in October.

I do not care if she apologizes to Al Franken. Gillibrand was an opportunist plain and simple who piggybacked off of the Me To movement. She has been given her comeuppance. Many pure Democrats may not like it, but eating your own should be punished.

In the end, I think the average voter who is reasonably well informed, balked at her candidacy simply because she called for his removal before he had a chance to get due process. In the end, she has probably done more to set back women’s rights than before.

Schumer is not innocent in this either. He could have calmed down the tribe and supported Al while he was undergoing due process. Instead, he yanked the rug out from under him.

She had a pretty darned good rating from the NRA when she was repping upstate NY, but boy howdy did she see the light on gun control the moment she decided to run for Senate. I’m not even sure which of her positions – if either – was genuinely held.

Best possible answer to someone expecting miracles to happen while Moscow Mitch presides. Bravissima!

The last two qualifying polls were released this morning. Steyer and Gabbard both failed to qualify.

Worked pretty well for Trump…

I noticed quite a few of the candidates were being stubborn, claiming the rules for making the Debates were unfair (because they didn’t make it).

I’m glad she took the high road, realized she didn’t have the ability to win the nomination and ended her campaign. She can do good with the money she raised. I believe she can give it to the DNC or other Senate races and, we really need to win the senate
