Kinzinger Backs Subpoenas For McCarthy And Jordan In Jan. 6 Probe | Talking Points Memo

The Karen was strong in this one, even 35 years ago.

I was just thinking he’d feel shorted at less than 24 hours straight.

The big hair sprayed to within an inch of its life, the strapless dress…one must assume that was the zeitgaetz of the time.

I agree. They do have immunity from prosecution for things they do or say as part of their congressional duties, but to me, a subpoena isn’t prosecution. They would be compelled to testify as to what they said, heard, or saw, but that isn’t prosecution. It might affect the prosecution of someone else.

I don’t see anything wrong with her face. And remember, when you visit a hairdresser you don’t always end up with exactly what you had in mind. OT when I hit the road I always try to have a bluesman in the back and a beautician at the wheel.

Absolutely.

He’s a Marsha Blackburn. On two separate occasions I saw Blackburn “out-talk” (using the techniques you describe) both Bill Nye and Lawrence O’Donnell. She would not let either complete a sentence.

Or a word with more than one syllable :face_with_monocle:

It’s simpler than that: everything they want for themselves, is permitted; any assistance, joy, or luxury for the Blacks, Browns, and/or non-Protestants must be forbidden.

They are racists down to the foul stinking marrow of their bones.

He was. Stalwart friend, told the truth, did what he said he’d do.

For 21 years I’ve told visitors that KING OF THE HILL is the best documentary on NW TX in existence.

We could get an estimate of Rudy’s from Kraken Powell. She could probably give an evaluation of quantity and quality.

I know a guy who has the uncanny ability to emulate Boomhauer’s speech patterns perfectly. He claims it’s easy but I can’t even come close.

I hope that the committee meets again very soon and often. If they drag out the time between hearings, I am afraid it will lose some of the intensity and horror that the insurrection generated. They also need a plan for when Jordan, et al refuse to comply with subpoenas. Adam Schiff said there was no precedent for this scenario. So, it is time to set a precedent. Arrest them, fine them and jail them. Gloves off. We only have one shot at this before midterms.

I’d go a different way–I think that the space between hearings actually ups the pressure against the #TreasonCaucus, because it’s additional mornings (or early hungover afternoons) when each has to wake up and think “Who flipped on me?”

Criminality aside, I doubt they are smart enouggh to use burner phones.

I rather like the cut of her jib.

And time for the committee to follow up on whatever arises in a given hearing. Also, it can (I hope) be brought to a climactic crescendo at the right time.

I see your point. Timing is everything but maybe we can both agree that hearings concerning Republican collaboration in the insurrection bumping up against midterms would be a good thing.

I’ve got $1000 Trump™bucks that say there are literally hundreds of unlisted, discardable, second, or “burner” phones all over Capitol HIll.

OT: Unfortunately, after watching this, it seems wrong that I’m the one who’s speechless.

A lot of these people thought they were on top of the world, and would be forever. So why use burner phones? Op-sec or even common sense was not their strong suit.

Not exactly. The “speech and debate” clause of the constitution says “they shall not be questioned in any other Place”. They can still be questioned in the halls of congress, or haled before a select committee under subpoena, and then criminally referred to the DoJ. They are “privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same”, but that doesn’t preclude a 5AM arrest the next day while they’re still in bed.

Some. A fuck-ton of others were opportunists, grifters, thieves, and would-be gangsters who thought they could siphon off US Gov money (they were right) and damned sure used burners.

It’s a mistake to assume all the unindicated co-conspirators were/are stupid.
