I think this would be more an investigation of Bill Barr than Donald Trump at the end of the day. And, I think that investigation would be useful.

Not sure why Judiciary would have a piece of this action, and certainly Durbin will not do anything about it.
But, there seems to be a legitimately serious question raised about someone running for Federal office, it should be looked into.
The only part that sounds dubious to me is that the Convicted Felon would put up his “own” money first before getting his bribe.
And as for the time it would take, how long did it take to investigate and convict Menendez? Shouldn’t be much different for Convicted Felon Trump.
And if it inconveniences him and costs “him” (campaign) time and money, it’s well worth the effort. I mean, it’s not like they’re really doing anything right now except campaigning.

It’s been known for four years.
All that is new now is that there was, in fact, a cash withdrawal from Egypt’s foreign currency reserves. DOJ investigators knew that, but it wasn’t in the public reporting until recently.

Since we know that Fat Boy will face no repercussions (nor shall Fat Barr), it seems reasonable to wonder as to why this should be investigated.
Personally, I would think this would be an investigation focused on the Trump Administration State Department and what they did for Egypt and Saudi Arabia (ie: working the cases backwards), but I’m sure that common sense approach violates some sacrosanct DoJ investigation memo that trumps the “moot” (per SCOTUS) Emoluments Clause of the Constitution.
That said, this is a Senate Judiciary committee investigation, so it seems like they could get a bit more effective with their methods if they were actually inclined to, I dunno, do something effective for once.

If a Democratic president so much as farts the GOP falls all over itself to investigate. If a Republican does many obvios crimes, Dems sit with their thumbs up their asses until the last possible second then make a token gesture more or less designed to fail.
This is the kind of inspiring leadership that got us to ~44% of the voting public preferring the criminal.

Per the story, it all began in the final days of the 2016 campaign. Trump, in some form, provided his campaign with $10 million of his own money.
First of all, TCF never provides anyone or anything any of “his own money.” It is always OPM (Other Peoples’ Money). So, it easy enough to ask what accounts were these monies transferred from? And second. This happened 9 years ago. What is the statute of limitations for this kind of criming?
Unfortunately, I see absolutely nothing coming from this from the Democratic leadership in the Senate, House, or Executive Branch. They just all want to go home. But, g-d forbid, with full pay, pensions, and any remaining budget for junket money.
Third: What’s Biden’s response/timeline looking like for his remaining 3-4 months?

Well, honestly, we’ll never “know” what or who the first guy was aiming for, and we sure as hell know the “second” guy NEVER FIRED A SHOT AT ANYONE near the golf course on that recent day… Let’s not get over our heads here. We’ll soon start looking like Tweedle-Dumb and Tweedle-Dee.

Because Sisi is smart and wanted to see the receipts before he paid off TCF- he knows if it was in a different order, TCF would just pocket the cash. Doing it this way gives Sisi leverage over TCF to do what he wants him to (as he could drop a dime on the quid pro quo, if necessary).
