The only way this criminal enterprise we call our Administration ends is with more people standing up like this and saying ā€œNO!ā€. It only ends with the average person deciding not to allow normalization of hate & crime & lies.

Matthew 2: 13 Now after they had left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, ā€œGet up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.ā€ 14 Then Joseph[a] got up, took the child and his mother by night, and went to Egypt, 15 and remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet, ā€œOut of Egypt I have called my son.ā€

Iā€™ve dedicated my career to protecting the rights of free speech and all of the values we hold dear here in America from all threats,ā€

We need protection from the threats posed by Trump and people like you who support him.

Go away! Far, far away.

ā€œSo weā€™ll go ahead and try one more time, but otherwise Iā€™m going to go back to work and keep trying to secure this country,ā€ the DHS leader continued, ignoring the comment.

They shouldā€™ve let him speak - sending him back to work to try to secure this country is what got him into this mess in the first place.

On the one hand: I like that they did this.
On the other: There are questions I would like to see asked of these people every time they show up in a public forum. For example,
1) As a person whose job is to collect and detain people in camps, does it bother you that the person setting the policies under which you work has repeatedly voiced support for individual neo-Nazis, as well as nationalist parties and authoritarian dictators the world over?
2) As you oversee detention camps, does it bother you that American citizens once held in the now much-regretted Japanese-American internment camps have spoken out about how much worse conditions and policies (ie childhood separation) are than any they were subjected to at the time?
3) Will you publicly state that you will refuse to follow any policies or orders that you consider to be morally abhorrent or illegal?

Just for starters.

Imagine how much worse these folks would look if they tried to punt on these answers. Imagine how much more on the hook theyā€™d be if they admitted on the record that nothing so far was immoral or illegal in their estimation ā€” or, that they are just following orders.

Waste of time, because he will never provide the answers weā€™re looking for.

Blah, blah, blah is all weā€™ll get.

If you want to make McAleenan look like a victim, and spare him the much more challenging task of defending the administrationā€™s policies, this is the way to go. But it seems like short-term gratification at the cost of any strategic ideas as to how to best oppose these policies.
