On top of the fact that the U.S. economy lost 23,000 jobs in July, a deep dive into the jobs report published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics Friday morning revealed some jobs statistics reached their worst levels in 10 years. But if you ask Kevin Hassett, White House chief economist and director of the…

Whenever I see “Schumer said,” I cringe.

“You’d better stop it guys. Guys…? Guys?!?!”

Gee … there’s nothing wrong here.. Hastert has his job so s’ok.
And the reflecting pool’s ok if ya don’t think about it
The White House is gorgeous if ya ignore the ripped up Ellipse and the on going rubble filled construction where the. East Wing used to be.

“Local government education roles saw the biggest decline in July.”

This is an undersold story – and an absolute disaster for municipal services.

Schools and local agencies are shedding knowledgeable professionals like a yeti in Phoenix.

And I do worry we’ll be as short on them as we are now short on interceptors.

What’s going on in Florida is similar and Orwellian.

The state’s “school choice” and school voucher movement is draining public education budgets in favor of for profit charter schools, leading to layoffs and the closures of public schools, all in favor of charter schools that are not required to hire certified teachers or meet other standards and requirements that public schools must meet. Local school boards have no oversight over charter schools, and now we are seeing schools opening up by well-connected business people in locations that do not have windows, gymnasiums, or adequate parking.

Under the banner of Live Local, legislation purportedly enacted to promote affordable housing has had the effect of stripping local governments of the authority over land use decisions as long as developers set aside a certain percentage of housing units loosely deemed affordable. We are seeing this fig leaf for rampant overdevelopment proposed for projects on beach locations and other high-end areas that feature condos going for seven and eight figures.

An astroturf “citizens tax revolt” is moving forward on a proposal to abolish property taxes on residential properties, and replace them with sales taxes and other regressive means, despite the potential impact to government services.

The common thread in all three proposals is they undermine the authority of local government and lead to dependence on state government.

You know the Trump economic advisors have several common traits. 1. None of them give a shit about sharing the truth with the common people. 2. All of them are billionaires so they don’t give a shit if they get it wrong. 3. All of them shamelessly smirk and giggle for the camera.

The truth is none of them gives a shit about what you or I think.

The result is the rich get richer and the rest of us suffer. Why would Republicans care. They don’t know any poor people anyway.

I once encountered a homeless man who had died in downtown West Palm Beach during a pre dawn walk. The police knew exactly how to handle the situation. The next morning nobody knew and shopping went on as normal.

You all are just missing the point here. 23000 less jobs leaves more money available for these greedy rich motherfuckers to steal.
