Kevin: Hashtag No Regrets - TPM – Talking Points Memo

Ousted-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) exited Congress today, opting to retire early rather than finish his term after an utterly humiliating and unsuccessful eight months as speaker.

Kevin McCarthy, seen above just prior to smashing the fingers of a young child who got too near the Speaker’s podium.

GOP speakers all quit or get canned early.

I can only hope the same for Johnson… Except that creepy patronizing true-believer might actually be the heart of the beast. The cognitive dissonance and MAGA BS might be actually making him stronger.! This might be the worst possible timeline after all.

Don’t go away angry, Kevin. The Democrats would have kept you if you’d kept your deal with Biden and you hadn’t badmouthed him publically while telling your colleagues that the President, in your meetings with him, was sharp and substantive. Way to piss off the loyal opposition (loyal to the country, that is, not to you).

It’s not so much that Dems voted against McCarthy–they just voted for Hakeem Jeffries. Like Republicans wouldn’t have done the same thing.

Dear Lord, it is one thing to be an idiot, but it’s another to proclaim your own idiocy and be proud of it. It’s mind boggling, but then again, maybe not…

But Steve “Pigpen” Bannon is madder than a hatter at Maga Mike for allowing the defense bill to pass.

He tried and he tried to finish, tried to move on the gavel like a bitch, but he couldn’t finish. Sad.

By retiring now, McCarthy risks decreasing the Republican majority in the House further just ahead of two more shutdown deadlines. With Rep. George Santos’ (R-NY) expulsion and speculation that Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH) may leave office early after accepting a position as president at Youngstown State University, the number of Republicans who can rebel during crucial funding votes grows even slimmer still.

And then the House Republican majority margin shrunk to four. At this rate, we might be able to get to Speaker Jeffries by the spring.

A more gormless nincompoop has never before been minted. The man is dumb from a distance.

The difference being that the Democratic caucus would have told that representative to resign, instead of being publicly humiliated – see Weiner, Anthony.

I always get Jeffery Clark and John Eastman mixed up. Clark worked in the Justice Dept during Donnie’s one term, Eastman did not. So why was he they’re go to guy on what was legal?

From the Politico article:

“Professor Eastman invites the Special Counsel and anyone else who is interested to examine the records of his case before the California State Bar,” the attorney, Charles Burnham, said. “The evidence showed that his actions and legal assessments were well grounded in both fact and law, and that he definitively and faithfully complied with his duty of zealous advocacy for his client and of candor to courts, and that he honored his oath to the Constitution.”

Is there/was there some sort signed client attorney agreement? I know a sure as God made little green apples Donnie didn’t pay him for any of Eastman’s work.

Republicans rarely feel shame for their actions except behind closed doors, maybe. Anyone see the apology letters written to the Georgia voters? At least the first guy’s seems heartfelt. The other two, lawyers, need to go back to apology letter-writing school.
