Former independent counsel and Fox News contributor Ken Starr argued that EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland’s public testimony Wednesday was a “bombshell” day.
This is the biggest news of today. While a hack, Starr is their hack. He has been 100% on the “no impeachable act” line. He is a FOX rock-star. And he said (1) evidence for article of impeachment for bribery exists, (2) evidence for article on obstruction of justice exists, and (3) this may be a “republican senators go to the WH, as with Nixon” moment.
I want to be clear - Starr left some wiggle room about it being “litigatable” (i.e. an argument could be made this is not enough evidence) but this will give huge cover to Wallace/Baer, etc to try to pivot Fox into more news coverage, less propaganda. That is a big deal. There is a war at FOX, and Starr’s pivot will allow that faction to put pressure on Lachean and the board (Ryan) to start covering their bases.
Starr helped bring about Clinton’s impeachment. Is he now the hero of the day by talking to Fox? I don’t think so. I only wish the Dems had had the latitude to appoint a special prosecutor instead of simply a special counsel. We’d be way ahead of the game now if that had happened.
If Nunes doesn’t get his crap together and stop wasting his time with conspiracy theories irrelevant to what is being pursued here, Democrats will soon start having “Watergate Orgasms”…
No. Not a hero by any means. But he is an important canary in the coal mine. His views and statements reflect something important. Starr sees Trump/Mulveny/Pompeo under the bus, asks himself how straight he wants to be, and acknowledges reality. That is important given that removal in the senate (or the vote totals) is going to be be 100% determined by how much support Trump looses.
I’m guessing Starr really doesn’t want to have to explain why lying about a blowjob is impeachable but extorting the head of a foreign country to interfere in a US election isn’t.
Fox’s list of prime-time pro-bono Trump defenders is shrinking: Deshowitz, Pirro, and occasionally Yoo, and 2 might have sudden on-set laryngitis today.
For a normal person, that might be true. But Starr had no trouble at all writing a report that told in pornographic detail why Clinton needed to be impeached. Of course, he had help with the most lascivious parts from Brett Kavanaugh, but Starr’s name was still the one attached to that report. So he might relish the idea of getting to rehash some of more exciting tidbits about a blowjob in public again.

Uhh…i don’t really think there is any argument in the impact of what Gordon Sondland said this morning. In fact, i believe his testimony resulted in checkmate.
