The man who helped to develop and implement Donald Trump’s effort to overturn the 2020 election is asking a Georgia court to invalidate his guilty plea last year in the sprawling state RICO case. Ken Chesebro’s filed the motion to invalidate his guilty plea Wednesday morning. It is not related to Trump’s victory in the…
Cagey bastard, isn’t he?
Give him the chair.
Seems like a good argument to me.
Please say you’re being sarcastic.
Not at all sarcastic. If the charge he pleaded guilty to turns out to be unconstitutional, the charge should be dismissed.
I express no opinion on the effect the withdrawal of the guilty plea might have on the other offenses he was charged with.
Exactly. He pled guilty to other charges not found to be unconstitutional. So, he’s still stained. Hopefully he’ll lose his law license(s). I’m sure it’s being challenged.
Other thing is the cases against Mark Meadows and others will hopefully keep going. And there will be a drip drip drip of information about Trump’s involvement in the multiple paths taken to overthrow the 2020 election result. Just because he can’t be prosecuted doesn’t mean Trump’s involvement will be off limits during prosecutions on the state level. Right?
If right, pass the popcorn and speed this stuff up. If only, if only they’d prosecuted Trump right after the 2020 election instead of taking their sweet time.
He only pled guilty to the single charge. The rest were dismissed pursuant to the plea deal.
An appellate court in New York suspended his license to practice there -

but I don’t know whether he was admitted elsewhere.
ETA: the WI criminal complaint, alleging forgery uttering in connection with the fake electors scheme, remains pending against him (and Mssrs. Roman and Troupis). The initial appearance is December 12 - stay tuned.
That seems like a problem—would the court just nullify the plea deal in its entirety and send him back to trial on the other charges? Getting those dismissed because of his deal and then getting the deal thrown out seems like double dipping.
So…guilty not guilty??? FFS. What scum these guys are.
Oh, my. Like I said, he’s a cagey bastard. Next he’ll appeal his disbarment.
Good there’s still a case in another state where he’s been indicted (right?).
Funny, I was out in LA a while ago and saw signs for a Chesebro Parkway or Highway or something. Must be he’s related to asphalt, which naturally leads to thinking about tar and feathering, which would look good on him.
All of which makes me wonder why a thread like this one gets so little attention. Maybe there are lurkers, though. Not that I crave attention or anything.
Strictly, a criminal complaint was sworn out against him (as opposed to a grand jury handing up an indictment) but a criminal case is pending in WI. He may have exposure to criminal liability in AZ, although to my knowledge has not been named a defendant there.
So far as this thread dying in relative obscurity: yesterday was a busy day, what with SCOTUS’s ruminations on transgender rights precipitating some brawls in the discussion thread, etc. I venture we’ll be hearing more about Limburgerbro in time.
I hope we do hear more about Chesebro because he’s my favorite of all the scoundrels.
No place yet for Chesebro in the next Trump administration?
