Every generation had a word for this, from “tantrum” to meltdown," because every generation has dealt with 2- and 3-year-olds who can’t regulate their emotions. For those who never learn to we have prisons for some, anger management classes for others, and obscurity for still others. I think it’s slowly dawning on many of us that the Oval Office is not an appropriate place for such a person.

Holding onto the Senate and losing the House by 3 to 5 seats is not a seismic political win per se. But it is a seismic win against the conventional wisdom of a midterm wipe out of the President’s party. I think the pollsters were overly influenced by tradition and tainted their predictions with it.
There was WAY too much shit going on for them to have done that. Roe of course but the USA was coming off Trump withdrawal and it seems it also had become a bit resistant to billionaire donor lies. This was not an ordinary election. It was the first one following SCOTUS revealing itself, Jan. 6 and Roe. The GOP was blocking Biden from student loan forgiveness and bitching about the popular support of Ukraine. Women, young people and to some extent older Americans after Scott’s “fuck em” policy had been singled out. Made targets. I’m surprised no pro figured this into their predictions.
Polling is now dead. May it rest in misery.
