As the Supreme Court cosigned President Trump and Elon Musk’s massacre of independent executive branch agencies last year, experts prayed that the justices would concoct some way to protect the Federal Reserve. Wednesday’s arguments bolstered those hopes. The right-wing majority seemed uncomfortable with the Trump administration’s arguments from a variety of angles, though no one…
Apparently, his own personal wealth is an issue that matters to Boofer Kavanaugh.
This confirms the fact that the fascist-enabling radicals on the court are outcome-driven, not guided by any legal or historical precedents. I’m glad they seem to be sparing the Fed, but if they do, it will only show that if it’s not about their money, they don’t care what a president may do.
It seems that Roberts just wants this whole thing to go away rather than revisiting it in the future. That was my sense.
“Swing justices” roflmao
“If this were set as a precedent, it seems to me, just thinking big picture, what goes around comes around and all the current president’s appointees would likely be removed for cause on January 20, 2029 if there’s a Democratic president, or January 20, 2033,” Kavanaugh said. “Then we’re really at at will removal — so what are we doing here?”
They are just coming right out and saying it now that they want different outcomes for Democrats. And what’s up with the 2033 date? Are they planning to give Trump a third term?
Ironic that Trump will be a victim of a Kavanaugh stop.
Are we taking odds on the outcome?
I hear a lot of chatter from the First Felon’s nominees, but the proof will be in the decision, which of course will favor the First Felon. They talk a good game, but I wouldn’t trust them as far as I can throw them.
Sad for Boofer that he doesn’t understand that an independent Fed alone won’t insure he prospers from his investments.
Tariffs, corruption, disease and natural disasters all have negative economic consequences that the Fed can manage, but not prevent. Saving the Fed, but letting the rest of government be taken over by quasi-fascist corporatists and crypto grifters is not something Jerome Powell can fix through adroit management of monetary policy.
If Thomas had been included, woulda been “swinger justices”. It’s that RV life, wink wink.
If the Prevost Marathon Le Mirage XL is a-rockin’, don’t…
Just don’t.
“Pleeeease give us a path to punt this back down so we don’t have to reconcile shielding the Fed with dismantling all the other independent agencies we hate”
Justice Amy Coney Barrett, another pseudo-swing, brought up amicus briefs from economists warning that if the Court lets Trump fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, it may spark a recession.
So what? Roberts et al have made it very clear that the country could be destroyed by Trump, but if they decide his action is legal because of some originalist founder bullshit, it would be OK. The “law” is more important than the American people is their stance, and they created a mad king to prove it. But now we’re talking $$$. Just how much do these legal scholars have in stocks that could crater if Trump ruins the economy? Josh keeps saying these people are corrupt, but that is too kind.
I cxan’t believe some who would use “elites” as a pejorative in the Supreme Court would be considered a serious person.

Nice Appointees you got there, be a shame if something happened to
… all of them.
Ha! He thinks JD is going to get elected in ‘28.
Rutte credits Trump for getting NATO members to ramp up their national defense spending, first to 2% of GDP, and now 5%. But with that the US assumes a smaller place at the table, as it is both an ally and a hegemonic enemy that can’t be trusted or relied upon. The net result of Trump’s visit to Davos, for all the coverage, is the spectacle of a much-diminished US. Trump is now backpedaling as fast as he can, canceling tariffs that he imposed last week. He’s embarrassed himself and shamed our country.
If Trump follows his gut bankrupcies follow and other failures.
Maybe some members of the Court noticed this.

Normally “just following the law” would suffice to do this.
“…both Alito and Barrett were squeamish about Cook’s contention that misconduct prior to holding office doesn’t count for legal “for cause” removal.”
Have these clowns even heard of the name *rump?
