Former Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R), who is slated to speak at the 2020 Democratic National Convention (DNC) this week, stated on Sunday evening that a former Republican lawmaker will endorse Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden on Monday.
“Look, you’re gonna have a prominent congressman that’s going to come out, and declare, let him do it. I think he’s gonna do it tomorrow,” Kasich replied.
Shortly after the remark, CNN reporter Jamie Gangel reported that the Ohio Republican had told her he was referring to a former, not sitting, member of Congress.
Rather meaningless, until it’s a sitting (and not retiring) Republican Congressperson.
It’ll be Jeff Flake. And it will be insignificant in terms of moving the needle of the undecided or persuadable voter.
How about starting that ad blitz? All I see for television advertising is Trump campaign ads and Republican senate ads. They’ve got the floor to themselves with no pushback. It’s come down to the Never-Trump Lincoln Project to begin the messaging to define this race, but that’s not a great reflection on the Biden campaign or the Democratic senate election campaigns.
We don’t have a Senate race here in Ohio this cycle, but the Cincinnati advertising market covers Northern Kentucky. Amy McGrath is on Moscow Mitch like white on rice. I haven’t done a formal count, but it seems like her ads are up as often as Moscow’s are. She’s not pulling her punches, either.
On the congressional side, Chabot’s challenger in OH-1 seems to be running a strong campaign. The woman running my 'critter (Wenstrup) will get my vote, but I’ve seen nothing from her campaign. I expect that the incumbent asshole will go back for two more years, and I hope and pray it’s as a minority member.
No need to get excited about this… they are still Republicans. Until they publicly announce they are disbanding the GOP and starting from scratch I could not care less
