In response to requests from state Republican parties, the Department of Justice announced plans on Friday to send federal election monitors to California and New Jersey ahead of November’s election.   And although election monitors are not necessarily unusual under appropriate circumstances, election experts are raising questions about this specific announcement, including which federal law the…

I don’t expect that masked Federal agents will actually seize ballot boxes at gunpoint

This Year.

I fully expect that they will, Next Year.

They’re going to be watching Reps. voting. Dems will simply campaign to have all Dems use mail ballots. We already all get one every election.

Yep. This is just a dry run for next year. I hope and expect that election administrators and lawyers are paying attention and gearing up for November 26. The Orange Menace knows that his fortunes are bound up in the results.

Awww…Donny John’s just a big old fluffy ball of hate, isn’t he?

The entire regime – all any of them must be doing day after day is just sitting around thinking of more ways to attack the many many people, here and abroad, that they consider their enemies.

That must make Jesus so proud.

They want to test out how ICE can best be used as Election monitors

…According to the Justice Department, the goal of this election monitoring is to “protect the votes of eligible American citizens.”

And when the Department of (In) Justice and their lackies at the voter suppression integrity section fail in their attempts to kill PROP 50 and to prevent the election of Democratic Governor’s in New Jersey and Virginia, then what?

Full Jim Crow in 2026? Poll taxes Voter ID and literacy test Proof of Citizenship updated for 2025? Or does the Orange POS just deploy Sturmabteilung Ice agents at all the polling stations in blue states?

“DOJ has not even attempted to identify a legitimate basis for its actions,” New Jersey Attorney General Matt Platkin in a statement Friday.”

Predication?
We don’t need no stinkin’ predication!

According to the Justice Department, the goal of this election monitoring is to “protect the votes of eligible American citizens.”

There should be a way of using that legal reasoning in various jurisdictions to achieve that stated goal. To the dismay of this DOJ.

I must say, the United States federal government is chock full of would-be-authoritarians or very-willing-to-go-along-with-authoritarians at the highest levels.

I assume an annual colonoscopy will soon be required before we can vote if we are in some random “Democrat” state, just to make us feel a little bothered by the process.

We havee lots of early voting. Starting tomorrow. All day every day from tomorrow through Election Day, at polls all over the state. Bullshit they are going to be monitoring much at all. Most Dems vote early, as it is.

because elections are specifically run by the individual States..

so, as usual, Republicans only believe in States’ Rights unless it’s inconvenient..

Obviously this is done in bad faith and a very bad turn of events, but this could have a bright side:

  1. If the results at these polling sites turn out to be more blue than originally predicted, or if the mail-in votes skew far heavier blue than the on-site votes, the Republicans will have a harder time exclaiming the system was rigged when they were monitoring it the entire time.

  2. It further establishes a precedent of strong federal oversight, a precedent that in other areas the Supreme Court is trying to lesson, that the Democrats can possibly continue using when they are back in power.

The monitors will make up a whole bunch of BS, and the SCOTUS will throw out the elections.

Show me the precedent where SCOTUS intervened in an election?

OK not counting the one where they gave the Presidency to Shrub.

What Republicans embrace of a post-truth world really means is that the more cognitively dissonant their assertions are from the facts of the situation, the stronger their grips become on those assertions.

Show me the precedent where the SCOTUS declared the president above the law and with unlimited power to ignore Congress. The constitutional republic that we used to take for granted no longer exists, Americans voted it away because the price of eggs was too high.
