U.S. District Judge David O. Carter of Los Angeles just concluded a 3 1/2 hour hearing (minus recesses) in the California election case without issuing a ruling. He promised one tomorrow. But he concluded the hearing with a very direct and unmistakeable warning to the Trump DOJ: “This court believe that it would be wise…

Starting from the original “Stop the Steal” fabulism in 2020, how many election-related court cases have these malignant buffoons actually won?

Any?

Bueller?

I, for one and for personal reasons, am glad to hear the threats must stop.

California should indict the responsible DOJ members for criminal violations of California Election Code 18502. Sure they’ll argue the case should be dismissed under the Supremacy Clause or whatever but fuck em. Put them on the defensive.

62 lawsuits. 61 denials. The 62nd was initially in his favor in Pennsylvania, but it was later overturned.

Considering who the Constitution actually, and explicitly, puts in charge of running elections, it will at least make them dance and twist and sweat a lot.

Thanks.

(I was too lazy to look it up myself right then … thought I plead “busy fixing dinner” instead of “lazy” and throw myself on the mercy of the court.)

You know, you contrast the straightforward adherence to established law and the constitution by the lower courts with the twisted ideological rulings from the Supremes and you just have to say it’s a good thing we have at least some committed, honest jurists somewhere.

Not just somewhere, but lots of wheres.

Even a lot of judges – not the most fanatical or FOX-brain-melted, but more than just a handful – of the ones who were appointed by the patient during National Mistake #1 or National Mistake #2 have proven themselves unwilling to swallow judicial shit sandwiches and proclaim that they were delicious.

The Six Nazgûl at the top are a glaring exception, of course.

Complete failure on all fronts, in and out of court. Even the Cyber Ninjas’ transparently phony audit in Arizona was a dry well.

Especially them. I remember reading some of their stuff at the time. And I can say, as someone with (mumble) decades of domain-relevant experience, they didn’t know cybershit from cybershinola.

I never thought I would live long enough to see a DOJ that was manufacturing cases on behalf of the President, ignoring the rule of law all the way.

The decision of Finnish president Stubb and Norwegian prime minister Støre to cold-call Putin yesterday was initially seen as a risk and source of division in Europe. The discussion was focused on the effects in Europe, which is now Ukraine’s biggest supporter. Looking at the Russian side, it appears Putin was caught flat-footed by the move, having written Europe off as an afterthought and looking ahead to spending Thanksgiving in Abu Dhabi carving up the geopolitical world. Sometimes we forget that these superpowerful leaders may only have a tenuous grasp of what’s actually happening as they live in self-erected bubbles. Mao towards the end became increasingly suspicious of almost everybody. We now see similar paranoia affecting not just Putin, but his upcoming Yalta 2.0 partners as well.

I like eggrollian’s insight that Putin, too, is living too much inside his own spooky head. Excess money and power is unhealthy for people.

I’m in a good mood today because I think Brazil and Israel are offering a reality check on where we are headed. Trump is reminding the world that poor leadership, thieves and liars, cost too much. We must rid ourselves of them.

I had missed that the same court found the top prosecutor has been unlawfully serving in his role:

Even more reason for the California AG to go after him.

I’ve been enjoying Essayli not being in the CA legislature so there is that. If Essayli were not an unofficially appointed AUSA, someone equally bad would be.

Stop the Steal has its roots in W’s administration that fired Federal DAs who weren’t going after throngs of mythical ineligible voters
