“There is no cannibalism in the British Navy”

“There is no cannibalism in the British Navy”
They got run over. Recall how, for example, the National Review published it big headlines, “Against Trump.”
It didn’t start with Sarah Palin. The party - as in the rank-and-file - was ready for Trump. Recall how effortlessly he won the nomination, against what passed for the Republican hierarchy.
Trump has been running over the Republican hierarchy since he descended the escalator. That hierarchy should be embarrassed by their impotence in the face of his narcissistic pathologies.
What I love about the R’s is their consistency.
They are consistently changing their small minds.
I hope I’m not the only one who says a little prayer every night, “Thank you God that the alt-left didn’t take the bait”?
I suspect the number is a lot higher than we suspect. But until more than just a tiny handful are willing to locate their spines and stand up and announce that Emperor FatAss is wearing no clothes, the delusion will be maintained at least on the surface.
The cultists will continue to cult until they draw their last breaths. Or until the tide turns, then they will always have seen through him… ![]()
I have no words.
That’s OK Faux News does, and they will spew them 24/7.
House GOP leaders are preparing an alternative report on who to blame for the attack on the Capitol.
Of course they are. As someone old enough to have lived and breathed the Watergate hearings in my young adulthood, the difference between partisan politics then and partisan politics now cannot be overstated. Anyone looking to recent history to decide where we are likely to go is drilling a dry well. As much as they may superficially resemble one another, the underlying forces are completely different, and we are much closer to the period immediately preceding the Civil War than we are to Watergate.
The majority of this difference can be laid directly at the feet of right wing media.

It needs to safeguard the next election, not relive the last one.
As they say in London, “All talk and no trousers.”
The hierarchy set the stage for their own self-immolation.
McCarthy is a tool trying to choose its owner.
A grand and novel idea by the NYT, ignore history to solve the problems that history has revealed.
They’ve remained in the bubble for the last 17 months. They won’t present anything new, nor anything plausible.
They won’t be able to substantiate anything they present with any evidence that can be tracked back to anything real.
Just a lot of hot air.
I have to wonder how many R’s (both in politics and out) are secretly hoping for Trump to be indicted, convicted and imprisoned, so
they don’t have to deal withhe won’t be standing in their way any more.
An alternative report, months from now. Meh. What I want to know is what does Gaetz have planned for tonight? Will he storm the hearing room again? Take Pelosi hostage? Get Maddy to punch Adam Schiff?
Utterly delusional, and seemingly just as likely to harm their standing as burnish it, but fascinating.
That’s true lol. I’ve read and I wish I could pull up the source, that the Tepubs will be throwing out all kinds of rubbish to flood the media. This isn’t a new tactic for them. There’s even talk of giving up someone, maybe Mat Gaitz, like they did Cawthorn. We shall see.
David Brooks. Heh.

Well, what a great idea! Gee, why don’t we do that? The NYT has once again found the solution that millions of people are fervently wishing for but is being stymied by arcane and obsolete mechanisms like the filibuster. So profound.
As a middle manager at a hospital I used to sit on board meetings where i gave reports about utilization and quality to the board members who were largely bored and focused on their chicken. I remember one in particular where the CFO talked about how much Medicare reimbursement was hurting the hospital’s bottom line - Medicare reimbursement being based on diagnosis that meant they were paying the same amount for a one day stay with pneumonia and a 7 day stay with the same diagnosis. One of the board members asked, in all sincerity, why the hospital didn’t just raise their prices. The CFO looked at me and his look said “yes, they really are that completely ignorant about how things work.”
